Just more of the usual Mattel wheel-tire F-UP.
I can not believe their ability to make a pretty decent model and then ruin it by putting completely out of whack wheel/tire combo. Who works for these people? The old GM quality control managers?

I'll tell ya, minus those horrible wheels/tires it's not that bad looking.

I eyeballed a few shots on the web and it looks pretty good on the side view. Not sure about the nose but they did change.

Even I have to admit the wheels look like they were taken off a monster truck. It looks awesome aside from that.
I have been looking to fill the 10th spot in my 1:18 Ferrari case, and will probably do so with this.

I just went into the 09 Nurburg Toy fair catalog and Hot Wheels is showing this exact pic as their 1:43 release, and not the 1:18.

    So there's still hope! :)

Edit: steerable wheels on a 1:43? Hmm.....

I thought the same, but then again it could be another scale the pre production photos only.
I just hope the final product turns out better than this.

Kyosho has released a few 1:43rds with opening hoods and doors, so my bet is Hot Wheels is trying to follow up on that.

what a a joke :) the last and probably most current list about new 1:18 releases I have seen is from December 09 and says, that the first 1:18 512S will come in 06/10. A new series called ' Elite in music ' and the car will be Nick Mason's 512S.
I don't believe it, but this is what I have found.

    Offtopic; what might interest you as well. There's a new 1:18 308 GTB scheduled for 12/10 ( red ) and 01/11 ( blue ).
I'm curious whether this will be a complete new casting or whether they use the failed Kyosho die.

    Best Regards from Germany

    Martin

I guess they'll have J Kay's (from Jamiroquai) Black Enzo in this series as well. Mattel really takes the p*ss. I don't want a model of a Ferrari just because it's owned by a musician. I mean - most succesful famous musos have probably owned a Ferrari at some point.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if the blue one might be a re-release of the 1975 Paris salon car from Kyosho.
