Pagani will launch its Zonda replacement, the C9, at the end of this year, according to the supercar firm’s Argentine founder.

Horacio Pagani told media in his native country that the C9 would be powered by a 690bhp, 737lb ft version of AMG’s 6.0-litre V12 engine.

Pagani also said the car was a completely new product in terms of design, weight, distribution, materials and dynamics and it will feature 3770 new parts.

The chassis will be carbon-titanium, with electronics coming from Bosch and specially developed tyres from Pirelli. The car will also be sold in the US as Pagani claims it meets the strict crash safety tests and Californian emissions laws.

Production of all one-off and special-edition Zondas will end in September to gear up for C9 production. Pagani aims to build 40 units per year at a cost of 900,000 euros (£785,000).

With 690hp, I'm guessing it is new cause no Zonda's have that, unless it's just tweaked. It'll be the same engine from the SL65.

40 units/ year is a lofty proposal, especially in these economic times.

Yes esp at 900k Euros. But apparently Zondas seem to appreciate in value.

The current Zonda uses the 7.3 liter V12 from the ultra rare R129 SL73 AMG not the 6.0 liter V12

I would much rather have a Mercedes engine then a Ferrari, or Lambo engine. Yea the Ferrari engine is soul in a metal case, but damn, the Benz engine is so much better in all respects. Hell BMW make a fine engine as well. Either one done-up right, would be a wonderful powerplant in any car.

You probably hate the McLaren F1 for having a BMW engine too, huh?

I can not imagine how they can possibly top the Zonda F, which IMHO is the most perfect exotic in existense. I have been waiting for years and am still waiting for pictures of this new Pagani.

    Regards,

    a true Pagani fan.

MB makes some nice engines for sure. Loads of torque and probably cost less than Fcar engines in the long run.

    The Ascari A10 has a BMW E39 M5 engine (S62) with 625hp. Sounds incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwJNORPgMyU

They must be pretty good at making these cars and have the process down, with all the corbon fiber, I imagine they make a nice profit, why spoil that with another engine.

    Urban Legend ....

...So does that keep Pagani from developing his own engines as any respectable automaker should do ?

Let's hope this new car isn't named FANGIO

anyway how many Zondas were built ?

    Anyone ...

So you're basically saying Gordon Murray is not a respectable automaker because he used a BMW engine in the McLaren F1?

    Interesting.

Huh? Pagani not 'respectable'? strange. outsourcing is the norm when you can get what you want/need at your acceptable price point. why doesn't Ferrari..or any other car maker...make their own brakes, their own carbon fiber, or even their own aluminum? and i'll say it again...i really really really really want that piece of crap Mc F1 and its pathetic outdated BMW V12. while i'm dreaming...i'll take that wicked Courage with Mazda bodywork and an outdated Mazda lump too...

Pagani never, ever had any problem with shifting any of his cars before.
These 40 planned cars are basically already spoken for ,almost entirely going to folks who already own 1 or 2 Zondas.

I doubt it will be officially available from some dealer here in US.
More likely the car will be just much easier to federalize then Zonda.
To second question I have no answer,no prices yet,no specs yet,no allocations yet, very frustrating....

Would love to see the replacement.

We have two registered in Singapore & one is a carbon bodied F. Heard it was bought for a freaking US$2.6 million in today's exchange rate after taxes. The owner traded in an early S that was not registered & exported it.

And yes, Paganis seem to go up in value against odds.

I don't think their appreciation is against any odds.

If anything was against the odds, it was Pagani's success at all. Since they overcame that stigma of "just another new Italian sports car" they've proven themselves as both extreme performance car manufacturers and auto couture designers. Let's face it, a Zonda F is amongst maybe five other production cars that qualify as automotive jewelry.

The C9 will be the beginning. I know it sounds odd to say. I believe at some time after the C9 is launched, Pagani will begin selling cars in the United States as well as in many other countries and will soon there after enter into some form of governed motor sport.

Pagani have shown a handful of drivers around the world exactly what they are capable of. The C9 will be a cumulation of every bit of knowledge accumulated thus far. I think the world will be expecting something great, and I am not holding my breath - I'm sure it will be.

Going back and forth between Bianco Avus and Nero Daytona.
I like White better but Black hides the front gaps very efficiently.
