Great looking car! I dont know about those gauges sorry. Thanks for the clarificaton, silly me. Why the re-build JM?? Can you enlighten us? Lol, we are not talking about Brett's 308 here Speedy.
No, not custom Mod. I prefer that setup to the one that's in my car. It is near impossible to see those two gauges when they are located below your right arm. Not sure if theres any truth to the runour but that layout was not ADR compliant. I don't know this but perhaps someone can clarify.
Its definitely still possible, I'm 21, but my lifestyle is a little care free and i like to run a few more cars in the garage than the average guy so i'm still a few years off, but it could be done in the next few years. My best mate on the other hand only ever thinks about buying houses, and at the age of 20 has paid off about a half of a 500k mortgage so far, but lives on bread and water. So although more difficult than it used to be, its still plausible, but it takes some supreme sacrifice to do so. I'm trying to get the best of both worlds by being able to afford some luxuries while still saving the deposit. As such, I work about 80-85 hours a week... Good thing i love my work!
Balance is always the issue. I was silly and started Kart racing at around 19 when I started work full time hence being a bit behind at this time of life. I wouldn't however have changed anything. I had a heap of fun at that time. Now saving to try and have a go at some form of Tin Top racing. Good luck Jeh, and keep some balance in your life, 80-85 hours of work is not healthy mate.
ADR 18 would have been in force then, and only applied to major instruments and warnings - minor gauges could be almost anywhere.. It would probably comply - if it has a compliance plate it would have been OK.
UK 308 GTB/Si (2valve) and 308 GTB/Si QV had the guages in the centre console position. Australian and Swiss had it under the dash next to the friver's door. Don't know why .. as B27 says possibly an ADR reason as it is an eminently suitable position in the centre console. If the car had a 3 year restoration you would think they could leave the correct gear change ball on Although to the seller's credit did say that, and springs, not original. Also missing decal on header tank and correct clip on rubber bellows from vent to aircleaner ... these are hard to find. The plenum chamber of this car INSTANTLY makes it a 2valve motor. It would not be the first time that somebody has bought a 'Ferrari" to discover later that it they have, in fact, bought the really desirable 2 valve version The car looks in beautiful condition ... BUT it is a 2valve.
Yep, $60K tops and don't look sideways at a Falcon taxi driver at the lights, because he'd blow your doors off, euro engine or not. On the other hand, at least it's faster than an e-type and looks better than a 348.
I get scared if a Honda Civic revs his engine does ANYONE love the 348 ??? Bobby's E type is quick ... for a "standard" EFI Jag
