1983 Ferrari 308 QV Pre-production car. This is the 3rd QV ever made and subsequently the car prior to the 1st official QV to roll off the line. This is a Rosso Rubino over Black. The car runs and drives great. Will need an alternator belt which can be changed without dropping the engine.

This is a great opportunity for a starter Ferrari.

Will consider your trade plus cash. Need at least $10k cash and trade making up the remaining value.

Please email for further information and I'll be happy to give you my phone number, I just do not want to post it on craigslist and would prefer to screen potential buyers.

    Thanks!

It's been on craigslist for quite a few months now. Evidently against the owner's will.

This car has been posted here in the classifieds a couple times as well. The poster's call is bjhunt1975. He also has 300 something posts here as well. He contacted me about the car, but I was looking for and now have a carbed 308.

Guys I apologize. I didn't want this is to look like I was posting this, I'm not. I was rather in shock at a pre-production QV. I'm not in any way affiliated with this car, or the owner, was merely looking. Sorry for the confusion. It's not proper to pimp your stuff in threads.....so to speak. Sorry again guys....

    Good day All,

I noticed that the seats are incorrect... They would appear to be from a Carbed 308... I wonder what happened to the originals?

    Cheers,

    Sam

It is pretty easy to make that claim and then not provide a VIN so it can be confirmed.

Would a pre-production car be a US version? I would have expected it to be a euro.

There are 3 pre production cars, one being a "prototype" which is a euro that started life as a 2valve car fitted with a qv engine, the other two are US cars

I had no idea my car was the topic of discussion. I haven't been on fchat for a while. No idea what happened to the other seats. Had the car for a couple of years. Have enjoyed, it's time for it to go.

as for the vin it's #41695, it's very real. could even send photo if you're worried.

I will say it hasn't been the easiest thing selling a ferrari in a downturn economy. Had an offer for $25k at one point and in hindsight should've jumped at that.

If any of you are interested for any reason please let me know. I'd be happy to answer any questions about it. I'm not trying to sell it on this thread, just clearing a few things up for people. It's a real car, but the fellow before me didn't take extremely great care of her. Thought I could rehab her a bit, but found myself getting my new company going and didn't have the time. 1st Ferrari for me and it's been fun.

The 2v car that was converted was stolen from the factory and was not recovered for some time.

Most of the early QV and all the early GTB/Si's were US cars.

    Hey Brian,

Do you know the "early" cutoff date or VIN? The reason I ask is because I have an '83 Euro QV with a "1 piece" sewn carpet like the 2V, not in sections like later QVs.

    Thanks,
    James

Not really at this point. My QV research is really in the early stages. I will say this, far more from my experience with the cars when they were new and I was working on them in the dealer than anything else. With the exception of the basic motor itself the 83 has more in common with the 80-82 cars than it does with the 84-85 cars.

They also built a lot of 83's. The production period was almost 15 months long. The 84's are rather rare in comparison. That production year was cut short. That is one of the reasons I am trying to track production dates.

Doing great , the G650 is a really going to kick off a new era in personal jet Standards. Quiet Supersonic work is also progressing nicely.

send me a pm, so that i can see better pics of your car. i have a super clean 85 911 on Ferrari ads i may swap out, but i am not a fan of red, so i would like some pics and history.

ps, have you contacted Ferrari and gotten any history or documents on the car? i wonder if car insurance will be tricky if it is technically a pre production car. seems like a cool idea though, to own one like that, even for a little while.

There was a lot of overlapping in the 2v and QV production run in 82 there are several #'s that are 2v that are mixed with the QV #'s, the first QV prototye was 35351 and that production date was in 81 and I would assume the factory did not leave anything "left over" they used it all, so if there was something for the 2v that was not going into production for the 4v I am sure it got used up in the early cars.

Wade has the info, I have not personally contacted Ferrari. As far as insurance, I am a simple man. $37/mo gives her full coverage. My trailblazer costs more as a daily driver.

The G650 IS a beautiful plane and of course it will have or will need to go supersonic itself to pass cert. The X did anyway.
