You are one lucky fellow to have a grandmother like yours.

The photo is of the Ford GTMKIV, chassis J6, race number 2, in the 1967 LeMans. The crew is replacing the windshield because all the GTMKIV windshields were improperly prepared and started breaking during practice. New windshields had to be rushed by air from Dearborn to Le Mans. Jim, aka Napolis, now owns this car and it resides in his collection.

Hope to see many more of your pictures.

    Yes I do! :)
My grand father was "commissaire de course" at Le Mans, and he owned some Sportcars: Renault R8 Gordini, Mini Cooper S (of the 60's), De Tomaso Pantera S and a 308 GTB Fibreglass, wich is now in our garage!

The day he bought it, June 1977:

Talking about that 330P4 engine: is it the same used in 1968/1969 on the 312 F1 car?
    Thanks,

The major change for 1968-69 was the addition of the 48 valve heads. The P4 had 36 valve heads.

The F1 engine was also 3 liters and the P4 engine was 4 liters.

Dispalcement could be adjusted by piston skirt height, con rod length and crank.

I'm new and haven't figured out how to post photos, yet. However, I have found 2 photos of the NART white/blue Ferraris. There are two 158 #7's and one has two stripes on either side of the main blue nose stripe. I have two different angles (so it can't be shadows) and the stripes are the same in both. They are B&W but the gray small stripes are about the same gray as the NART badge yellow.Does anyone have information about the stripes and why they were applied?

This should probably be in its own thread, but can you explain where you are seeing additional stripes?

One of the photos that I am referring to in in post #2603 on page 131 of this thread! You can easily see the extra stripes in the car that Surtees sits in and no stripes on the #8 car. I'm correct in thinking it's not a shadow as look how the stripe ends at the windscreen. The other photo is a David Castelhano photo also. I hope someone can clear up this mystery.

Ok, let's move it up here so others don't have to search for it.

Unusual to see two identical competition cars side by side like that: not because they are identical cars, but they are bearing identical racing numbers.

    What a subject for post # 2000....
