Rossi > Massa > Kimi > Schumi ? Stop the bus I want to get off. Just thinking out loud lets just say if Massa truly cant get up to speed. What then ? If Ferrari is still paying on KR's contract perhaps a phone call down to the yacht would be in order. "Put down the Finlandia and report on Monday".
Not Santa Claus!, tell Me it ain't so! (I'm getting great odds on Santa if Massa doesn't work out!). It does seem strange how many people do not seem to be able to understand the idea of Fisi being the reserve driver!. I mean, it's not exactly rocket science is it?.
Indeed. That's the only reason they have him on board. Duh. It should be equally obvious that Rossi's trials are just PR stunts. While I could imagine some backmarker team being happy to sign him on and get the sponsorship $ he brings along, I'm pretty sure Ferrari would never stoop so low as to offer him a seat. ...I mean they would e.g. also never put a non talent guy who was barely able to finish races in a Minardi and hasn't participated in a GP for ten years into their F1 car in a real GP? Right?
To be fair to Ferrari, like with Rossi, they do keep their promises (even if it does cost them in the long run). Mind you, they did try to convince an retired old man with a duff neck to try racing again!.
...from today's PlanetF1 website: Did anyone believe Valentino Rossi when he said he was trying out a Ferrari F1 car for fun and had no intention to start an F1 career? Certainly the times he put in this week at the Circuit de Catalunya have shown that he has learnt a lot on the Ferrari simulator and can now put it into practice. The MotoGP champion set a time of 1m21.900s during a qualifying simulation late on Thursday afternoon and although meaningful comparisons are impossible, it looked pretty good to us. Rossi was using a 2008 Ferrari chassis fitted with GP2 specification slick tyres. Kimi Raikkonen took pole for the 2008 grid with a 1m21.813s. Kimi had the four-groove tyres which would have slowed him, and the car would not have been as developed for an early-season race as it would have been by the end of the year, but he would have had a much much cleaner track to race on. So, Ferrari's glut of potential drivers continues. Felipe Massa got into the car the day after and completed 400km of running. Surprisingly Ferrari didn't release any times for Massa, having been quite happy to release times for the 'bit of fun' Valentino was having the day before. You'd think it would be the other way round. Could it be Ferrari want to sign Valentino to a deal before the world realises how good he could be? He's got nothing left to prove in Moto GP and, like the return of Schumi, it would send F1 viewing figures soaring. The 2010 'Silly Season' has started before the 2010 season. ------------------------ Of course, PlanetF1 are known as a 'dumbass' website as well...
...another 'dumbass' comment....this time from the 'dumbass' UK magazine Autocar (note the comment from that 'dumbass' LdiM referring to 'future Formula 1 Champion) Ferrari: 'Door open for Rossi' 29 January 2010 Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo is keen to sign MotoGP ace Valentino Rossi for 2011 should the opportunity arise. Rossi impressed Ferrari with his pace in a Formula One test last week and di Montezemolo says he would have no hesitation in offering the Italian a place in the Ferrari team. “He's a friend and an undisputed champion, from Emilia-Romagna, a great fan of Formula 1 and engines, and also a potential Formula 1 champion," he said. "If there was the possibility in 2011 and he wanted to do it and had the possibility for testing and adapting to F1, then why not?" However, di Montezemolo’s plans depend on teams being allowed to run a third car in the championship. This is currently not allowed under the Concorde Agreement and the idea has met with disapproval from smaller teams. The Ferrari chief believes a third car could be run as customer cars and would allow younger drivers the chance to gain valuable F1 experience. "I spoke about the possibility of a third car, but I didn't say that Ferrari needs to have three cars," he said. "I'm well aware of the objections coming from the small teams. I was talking from the point of view of the interest of Formula 1 and of potential new entries in Formula 1. "The third car could also be helpful for young drivers, to let them grow,” he said. “It's not right that a boy, who has never driven in Formula 1, starts into a race without training and tests. Here's the idea: I would happily give a Ferrari to an American, German or Australian team and let the car be managed by them. "They would definitely spend less than if they had to build a car on their own from scratch. They could hand it over to a talented and strong driver or try it with a young driver with a certain potential.” Twitter - follow autocar.co.uk
KR is out of any contract and probably has his dough. I think that part of the reason F are letting Rossi test is to try to hook him in. It does seem strange to keep Massa's time under wraps unless they're doing the same as they did when Schumi was planning to step in and was way off the pace.
LOL... seriously? Gotta love the media making "news" out of nothing and people posting it like it has a snowballs chance in hell of happening. LdiM says nothing there, other then what fans like you want to hear.
He. Didn't. Actually. Say. Anything. It's the same kind of thing a politician says to please voters on an issue he has no intention of actually becoming involved in. "I would if I could." But he can't (run a third car), so he won't.
LdiM is far too aware of the passions of the Italian fans to mess them about. There has been a slowly increasing tempo in respect of Rossi over the past few years. Rossi is one of the most unique sportsmen of this era, and is demonstrating the inate ability to control an F1 car. LdiM 'did' say something, and has on several occasions. We can all differ on what is potentialy going to happen, but to dismiss out of hand the possiblity of Rossi driving for Ferrari is as absurd as me saying he 'definately' will drive for Ferrari (which I haven't).
You have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about. "Dismiss out of hand the possibility..." WTF? Look, what we're dismissing out of hand is your contention that Rossi might substitute for Massa this season, and that, beyond that, "the plot thickens"! Whatever Rossi's abilities in an F1 car might or might not be at this point in time have nothing to do with it. There is no plot and there is no thickening. Fisichella is the reserve driver. Do you not have anything better to do with your time? This is my last post on this absurd thread. Please let's make it go away.
Well then, care to make a friendly wager? One year from now, when Ferrari debut their 2011 F1 car, if Moto GP rider Valentino Rossi is an Official, contracted Ferrari F1 driver, in any capacity, be it racing or testing, I will use this as my avatar for the entire 2011 F1 season beginning with Friday practice for the first race. Image Unavailable, Please Login But, if Moto GP rider Valentino Rossi is not an Official, contracted Ferrari F1 driver when the car is launched ahead of the 2011 season, you have to use this as your avatar for the entire 2011 F1 season, beginning with Friday practice for the first race. Image Unavailable, Please Login No other conditions, no "only if three cars", or any other excuses on either side. Either Vale is signed to Ferrari as an F1 driver, or he's not. In the event that Vale is signed to Ferrari after the beginning of the 2011 F1 season, but before the final race, I will wear my "Casino Was Right" avatar for the remainder of the 2011 F1 season through until the beginning of the 2012 F1 season. How about it?
Dinodan....anger management buddy...remember your blood pressure! I believe my post you refer to was fairly self-explanatory. I really don't see why you get so upset when all I am doing is commenting on the possiblity of Rossi ending up in a Ferrari driving Grands Prix. As I mentioned, there is a continuing drum beat of information regarding Rossi, and there is an intriguing strategem in respect of his talent and immense marketing power. If you don't agree...that's fine, I respect your opinion. I will of course reserve the right to my opinion. I will also explain it without vitriol. It seems that those of you from 'the south' seem to have a problem with that....
OK...seeing as you are obviously a man with a sense of humour....you're on. I'll play with your timetable. If however, Rossi ends up in the car at a later date...then you will have to return the favour. Deal?
Before we make this offical, with a dedicated thread that can be searched quickly, lets specify what you mean by "a later date". I'm willing to extend this to the 2012 season as well, same bet as 2011. If MotoGP Rider Valentino Rossi is an Offical, contracted Ferrari F1 driver for the 2012 F1 season I will wear my "Casino Was Right" avatar for the entire 2012 F1 season, beginning with the Friday practice for the first race. Likewise if MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi is not an Official, contracted Ferrari F1 driver for the 2012 F1 season, Casino Square will wear his "ApexOversteer Was Right" avatar for the entire 2012 F1 season, beginning with the Friday practice for the first race. Is this agreeable to you?
and accepted... I'll post the dedicated thread using quotes of the above posts, and will accept the wager once more there. Lets have fun with this, that's what we're here for!
The smoke screen has tricked ALL of you... I'm taking over Massa's ride at Ferrari AND Rossi's ride at Yamaha!!!! HA!!!!
The only thing that thickens is the skull of those who believe in this nonsense. Domenicali is stupid but I doubt even he is THAT stupid. I predict that he will be too busy trying to protect his job in the next couple of years to think about Rossi. Should Massa fail, Ferrari does have a backup driver, right? The idea of Kimi getting a call from Ferrari is just plain idiotic. He got paid and he's done with Ferrari for good and very happy about it. Besides he's very busy at the moment clocking stage times that are somewhere between 0.5 sec and 0.9 sec per km behind Dani Sordo in rather extreme weather conditions. I reckon one could do a lot worse.
"I would happily give a Ferrari to an American, German or Australian team and let the car be managed by them". Does this really mean what it sounds like?
