...that life is just blah for you. Things that you used to really enjoy to do no longer have any appeal. The things that you treasured have no value. What have you done to get out of that funk?

You feel swallowed by the abyss
    There is definitely something amiss
You can't find a way out
    and are doing without

You wish you could find a way
to make it all go away
    When you close your eyes
your life feels like it is in demise

It feels like it is just a dream
that life is making you feel so extreme
    When you can't find
anything that makes you feel alive

I began to feel that way but decided not to participate in it. It is all about attitude........

Make half the money I used to make, health has had some issues, mother-in-law moved in with us, car trouble in both cars, pool has problems after the recent freeze. But you know what? I still have a job that supports my family, health issues are something I can deal with, mother-in-law move in is only temporary, cars are doing okay now and I can fix the pool. So, life is good............And it is going to get better...Even with Obama doing his craziness.......

If you want to get out of your funk go help out in Haiti or any other nasty place. Go talk to dying cancer patients.

That should snap you back to reality and help you appreciate the good things in life

As I heard Zig Ziglar say in one of his seminars......"I could gripe, complain and make life miserable for everyone around me. I could moan and carry on about everything that is affecting my life. But you know what? Tomorrow the sun will still come up in the east...and it will still be dark at night. So I might as well just go down to the coffee shop and have a great cup of coffee, relax and think about what I am going to do when I finish my coffee".....

Both good suggestions. Is it even possible to get over to Haiti?

    Here, here, I agree completely.

I have a very good friend, Dr. Gary Fish, who has a very good practice in Dallas, Texas Retina Associates, who also had a clinic in Haiti until the earthquake. In it, the clinic caved in breaking 6 of Gary's ribs along with his wrist. His nurse was injured in the quake and Gary decided to stay with her until she was able to come back to the US from their mission trip. Unfortunately, she is the one who died of a heart attack while waiting to go home.

All this could really traumatize a person and make them question if they were doing the right thing. But Gary told me that as soon as he heals some and he can get back down to Haiti he intends to rebuild the clinic and return to his regularly scheduled mission trips down there to give free eyecare to the local population. His attitude helps to build mine and encourage me to push forward with some of the things I would like to do to help others.

What you said is very valuable. Nothing can make you feel better than going out and giving of yourself to help someone else who might need it........Nothing can get you out of a funk quicker than getting your thoughts off yourself and onto someone else.....

I'm quite sure there's an Emo posting board out there somewhere... :)

I INVENTED my damn cup, and I rent whatever fluid goes into it... so I make
money whether the thing is full or not.

Start a "cup business" of your own - you won't regret it.

May I also add a few more suggestions to choose from:

    - volunteer at a homeless shelter
    - support a hungry child in a developing nation
    - visit shut-ins and play cards with them
    - mentor a youth
    - coach a youth sports team
    - offer your professional services pro bono to someone needy
    - volunteer for any organization that helps needy people

There is no quicker way to feel better about the whole entire world than to help someone genuinely and unselfishly. :)

I am currently helping the Red Cross with Haiti, so that is the way it goes. I also am volunteering at the local Senior Center.

And I did an interesting feat (at least to myself). I found out my typing classes in college paid off because I replied to this with my eyes closed! :p I even didn't correct anything after looking at it. Dang, I am good at this at times. :p

    Hey Flyboy, Spoofin' you....

Glad to hear you are involved. It is amazing what something like that can do for you. I was on the Board of Directors of Easter Seals in our area for a few years and seeing the faces of those you help is the biggest payoff there is............
