We had a great turnout. I enjoyed talking cars with everyone. There was a lot of interest in continuing a Saturday meet and drive. We'll work on it and post the details here in the Louisiana section.
I had a really good time as well. Great to meet you guys I hadn't met before and to see those I know again. It was a last minute decision to come and glad I did.
It was a nice time, and I enjoyed meeting all of you that I had not already met. I think it's a great idea to make this formal. If we could develop some sort of structure, it would make it easy to set the time aside to make it. Ex. On the first saturday of the month we will meet at .... ? Maybe a new location every month, or even similar to how So Cal and FL do their "Cars and Coffee" events at the same place monthly.
A set time sounds like a lot of fun...count me in. I enjoyed meeting all of you...(even the Ferrari guys...lol)
Rotating sounds fine, but a good central location is Hammond, with the new mall renovated there are lots of parking and a few nice places to go in and sit down for a meal. Is this something we want to get going just for us car guys, or would we want some publicity to share our cars with the public in an informal show-like setting. You know, let Dad take a pic of their little boy sitting behind the wheel of a Ferrari...or maybe even an ugly orange lambo with color matched interior panels? If you do it at the same place month after month, the crowds tend to get big. Not sure if we are or arent interested in something like that starting. Just rambling, stream of consciousness here. Pay me no mind.
I was thinking of doing something over here in the Biloxi/Gulfport area in March or early April? We could get LA,AL and MS participation. The weather was a major factor the last time over here so hopefully that would work out ok.
I'd love to do something overnight. Maybe get a block of rooms at one of the casinos. Maybe a dinner and some adult beverages followed by Kerry and Maury duking it out MMA style. Lambo vs. Ferrari.
Lol. Should be fun. All I have to do is throw a few racoons in the road. They seem to be attracted to that yellow prancing horse
Looks like yall had a good time.....sorry we had to miss this one!!! Nice collection of cars turned out. Mark M. Lafayette, La.
The BMW guys meet once a month at Coffee Call in BR. Has a huge parking lot plus beignets and cafe au laut. It is a good place to have a meet.
Those BMW guys were great guys..... I would not mind joing them for some beignets and cafe au laut. I go there all the time at nights just to have beignets for breakfast the next morning.
I April there is going to be a very large carshow in Baton Rouge, it will be a repeat of the Live Oak Concourso but at a different location in Baton Rouge
I believe it will be April 17 but don't quote me on this. I will post all the info when I receive the final plans from the organizer.
Happy to see some familiar faces and meet new friends. I had a great time and look forward to doing it again. With that said, please allow me to offer up some thoughts. Coming from a very large and organized weekly meet in SoCal, specifically THE "Supercar Sunday" (www.supercarsunday.com) I am very interested in getting a regular meet started out here. I am close friends with Dustin Troyan, who organizes this Socal meet, and can get a lot of his insight into our planning. With that said, their group was chased out of the shopping center they had been using because of complaints from the management. (This is very well documented in the SoCal section of F-Chat). Luckily, Dusty worked hard to establish a new location, but it almost fell apart completely. So before we start getting serious, we need to find a location that will meet our needs AND welcome our presence. I don't think we'll be able to convince everyone to travel long distances every Sat/Sun to meet up in one place, but if we think about doing local meets (Baton Rouge, Northshore, Metairie/Kenner) with a combined end of the month meet, we might be able to attract more people. Unfortunately, not everyone is willing to put the miles on their cars. (Big kudos to the owner of the F40 last weekend) Thoughts?
Yes, I'm trying to keep my 360 to less than 20,000 miles a year, so let's stay close. And I remember reading those threads in the SoCal section about the meets and the tools involved with getting it shut down. As far as Hammond/Ponchatoula goes, I know the owners of a few places that would welcome the business that our get togethers would eventually start to draw once word got out. You have to figure there are similar places in BR, NO, Slidell, Hattiesburg, Bay St. Louis, etc... that would want the same. however, having crowds of folks ogling the cars may not be what we're going for with the get-togethers. Great meeting you too, Jorge.
I'll be there; look for the 6'7" guy with the little white MGB I'll also be wearing a Ferrari hat to agitate the locals.
Ill be sure to wear my Lambo shirt to agitate you......LOL ( I will bring my racoon tail for your ferrari)
