Saw this on ebay and it raises some questions about the claims there are more than 349 cars. Either:

    1. The plate is fake, or
    2. There are cars with duplicate plates, or
    3. There are cars with numbers higher than 349 (which technically invalidates all the other plates), or
    4. There are cars with no plate, or
    5. There are not more than 349 cars

    So which is it?

    Check this thread out:

There are definitely pre- and post-production F50s...the exact number remains up for debate, but people usually center around 380.

As far as the plaque issue is concerned...I have never seen a picture of a plaque with a higher first number than last (e.g., 355/349)...

But I can rest assure you that there are more than the original 349.

    :)

    Oh--

And there are similar questions raised about serial numbers.

As evandaalen points out in the above linked thread, there are multiple cars with the serial number 99999 (significant because it was the last five-digit serial number).

Plaques aren't the only ambiguous characteristics these cars possess. :D

Joe, you've seen an F50 plate whose series number was higher than the total proposed number of F50s produced?

Sorry I thought his number 3 meant are there more than 349 cars to which my rapid response was yes.

Should have read the question more carefully!

No sweat, just wanted to clarify. You know me - gotta have every ounce of information I can get my grubby little hands on! :)

    Definitely two; maybe six.

Then add another for every F50 stolen by an individual with half an ounce of cunning... The perfect crime!!!

115/349 is S/N 104786, sold new April 1996 through MHT in England to first owner Andy Stanton, UK. Engine number 22040. Assembly number 42165.

You asked in post #1 "So which is it?". The answer is: It is the 115th of those 349 units that actually DO HAVE such a plate.
