The secret to sauber's speed is clearly the engine....seriously no one knows who is running with full tanks, etc., just too many variables to sort out at this juncture...I just hope that no one runs away with it...

report says mechanical failure for Rubens....that's a pretty broad non-committal statement

sorry tifosiusa - yes cosworth.......but still - makes one wonder about the other teams using these engines...

    Schumacher 1:12.832

I have a feeling that we might be in for some old-school spectacular engine failures from Cosworth cars this year. I mean, I'm sure they are solid motors but there have to be some kinks to work out still. How many laps did Rubens turn before it went?

So Schumacher not top and the Ferrari powered cars were fast! ;)

(Of course lets not forget that testing times can be pretty meaningless in the grand scale of a Grand Prix season).

And let's not forget that these times don't reflect fuel consumption which we won't have any idea about till the first race itself.

The least he could do is change the colour of his helmet! After all the millions we gave him. Hope his neck....

Name is Carol (one of two females who frequent both racing sections), it's ok to agree ! (I'm the blonde in the photo with Schumi signing my flag - it was at an owner's F1 test day in 2004 at Fiorano - profile page).

I just read Schumacher went faster than rosberg. Given the variance in fuel loads who knows what you can exptrapolate from these times though

Just read this - earlier reported problem was gearbox so perhaps two issues then..

Toro Rosso have admitted that there are problems with their car, mainly in the downforce area, after today's first testing session.

Far to many factors to take into account to make any sense out of it, I stress: The fuel efficiency question is going to be key this year.

It's nice to make your acquaintance Carol :) (and I'm only slightly jealous that you got to meet Schuey at such a great occasion).

The closest I ever came to meeting him was at the 1996 Japanese GP. He rushed past Me about 52 times but the 53rd time he slowed down and waved to Me! (to be fair, there were quite a few other people in the stands with Me, but at 6 foot two I'm sure he spotted Me and I was the person he was waving to! :D). The biggest problem I had at the time was convincing the Japanese that I wasn't Damon Hill, as we did look a like back then. :)
