The previous thread about contrasting stitching reminded me of the option available for the Cali, of substituting regular carpets for Alcantara carpets (option code "ALIC").

Has anyone chosen this? If so, what does it look/feel like?

I've seen this in a 612. Very nice. But it would make me worry even more about it getting dirty. I am told alcantara is very durable and wear well, though.

I have full alcantara in my 430 Spider and I love it; it is everywhere the carpet would normally be. It has a suede like feel although it is not leather at all. It is a man made material. It is easy to clean but it can fuzz up over time. It is a good replacement for the cheap carpet Ferrari uses. I think the option for the California is only for the passenger side. They also price it up. The question for you is whether you would use floor mats. If you do, then pass on the alcantera; you would just be covering the mat up. I am going to order a new California shortly and I intend to order the carpet and get alcantera floor mats made that will cover all the floor space. Not sure who I can find to do it but there must be someone out there.

Why must it be Italian Alcantara.
Please don't crucify me for that question!

Alcantara is a registered product which is made in Italy by Alcantara S.p.A. Some other manufactures are making similiar products but it would not be the same as what the Ferrari's have . Thier product is also used by lambo, porsche, bmw, etc. If you want a color match to factory colors, you would need to go with them. Had it in my 612OTO, but it was beige and showed dirt worse than carpet. It is much nicer than carpet though.

So it's not the entire floor covering that's Alcantara, just mats over regular carpet?

I think it is the replacement for the carpet, but only for the passenger side.

I just checked the new option list and I stand corrected. It is now available everywhere carpet would be for $2407.00. I am going to get it. May even get the trunk done for another 2048.00. Gotta love Ferrari pricing!
