Now that's what you call a big brake kit!

I have so many spare parts I gave my mechanics an interesting winter project. Upgrade my 360 Challenge's brakes. This is what they came up with. Adapt the spare 380mm front rotors with 6 pot monobloc Brembo calipers from my 550GTS to the 360's front with custom hats. And move the front 360C OEM 355mm with 4 pot monobloc to the rear.

Here are the some pictures. Rear 360C wheels will be used at the front to accept some 275 or 295 tires. I'm waiting to import some new front slicks to try out the car at the track hopefully by early March. One thing for sure is there won't be any brake fade ever.

This project came to my mind before the CCM idea. My purpose was two fold. Increase brake capacity and fit wider front tires. My home track at Zhuhai is one of the most brake intensive tracks in the world. 360C eats through a set of OEM Challenge front rotors in just 3 sessions.

Once this conversion project is completed I'll ask my mechanics to try 430 Challenge CCM system on the 360 Challenge, but that will mean going to 19" wheels which also means wider front slicks are NOT available. With race season starting soon, my guys priority will shift to race prep, so CCM project will be something that gets done when time permits.

Big brakes will look hot on your 575M. A while back I had Brembo's street GT kits put on my street going 550. I got just 355mm front rotor and 330mm rear rotor kits, but a 380mm front kit is available. Brembo street GT kits are cheap compared to Brembo Racing's line of products and are more than adequate for street use. Here are a couple of pictures of my Maranello's brakes.

What do you mean almost? It is, isn't it?

 

Ha, ha, ha. It may help in brake cooling, but it's actually the radiator vent on the GT bumper. We close off the normal radiator vent to the wheel housing to reduce lift, so all of the hot radiator air comes out of that big side vent.

Front brake cooling air on 360 and 430 Challenge actually comes from a scoop underneath the car. It's reasonably effective with OEM front bumpers, where there's lots of air going under the front bumper. But it's woefully inadequate once GT style front bumper/splitter is fitted, because air flow under the car is drastically reduced.

 

Race cars run a lot of camber angle, so right now it looks like it will just clear the fender lip.

If not then fenders will be flared.
