This article was mentioned on the Mike & Mike show on ESPN radio this morning: Super Bowl day-after? Schools consider canceling class snippet: "With student absentees doubling at many campuses the day after the Saints' historic victory in the National Football Conference championship game, school officials across the New Orleans region are pondering whether to cancel classes on the day after the Super Bowl..." LOL, Damage control already??? Seriously though, there was a press conference at the Colts 56th Street practice compound yesterday, and the reporters kept trying to get Peyton to respond in some "news worthy" fashion to questions about America's Team and other Saint's related suggestions. He repeatedly talked about their great story, adversity, his Dad, growing up there, donations to Katrina relief, etc... I think he drove the reporters nuts, who left with no headlines.
Went to the Monster Truck event in the Dome last night. One of the local drivers had the honor of crushing a "Colts camper". A few cell phone pics... I'm watching the 24 Hours of Daytona and they just showed Bobby Labonte's Pcar being refilled in basically a parking area. A large Saints flag was mounted on a pole in the bed of a truck and easily seen flapping in the lower corner of the screen. Geaux Saints!
link: Minister saves New Orleans Saints helmet from Katrina's rubble, hopes to return it to owner snippet: "The young Baptist minister plucked the New Orleans Saints replica helmet, complete with a moldy flood line across its tarnished fleur-de-lis, from the ruins of the Upper 9th Ward after Hurricane Katrina. Since then he has stored it in a foam ice chest, pulling it out only when he needs a powerful didactic tool to place on the pulpit during sermons...found the headpiece, which bears the signatures of several former Saints players -- Aaron Brooks, Michael Lewis, Deuce McAllister -- while gutting houses in an area that took on 4 to 8 feet of water...The helmet apparently bobbed for days in the 2005 storm's floodwaters, its facemask tipped down into the inky water..." Keep the Mannings away from anything to do with the Saints. Archie's failure was a big part of why they were known as the Aints

Nice misquote there because the original post said they never had a winning season while Manning was QB. I've got $100 on the Saints. Money talks! PayPal is ready. May the best team win
I have to go with the Saints; if nothing more as a sentimental favorite. It has to be a shoot out for MSY to win since the 'D' is not so good. Question is can Breese stay with Manning?
That is what I don't understand. It doesn't seem like a question when Brees is only the 2nd person in NFL history with over 5000 yards passing in a single season and currently holds the passing completion all-time record. Couple that with the highest scoring DEFENSE in the NFL and it doesn't seem so insurmountable. Obviously anything can happen on any given Sunday, yet I don't see this as being a major concern.
