These have been trading for about $70,000 in perfect shape.

    So the seller is optimistic.

I had a chance to buy one of these fiberglass body on custom square frame cars with a Bill Pound rebuilt 330 V-12 for $90,000 and passed. Bought an all aluminum Allegretti made body built on a 365 GT chassis/engine instead for 3x the $ and love the car -- nearly impossible to tell from the original (until you look at the engine compartment). Yeah, and ruined a chance to bring a Queen Mother back from the dead, I know....

Either that, or the seller is hoping someone gets confused, doesn't read the advert thoroughly, and bids on it thinking it's a a ridiculously cheap original.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

It's a very early Modena, the later ones have a windshield sans vent windows. http://www.calspyderii.com/Welcome.html

The later cars look much better, and if he gets his price, someone is a fool! As someone else already noted, PERFECT late Calspyders seem to be going in the $70K range.

That motor, if built as well as it looks, just might surprise you! I still wouldn't pay that sort of money for it though! On the other hand, I wouldn't mind building one, but I wouldn't put the Ferrari scripts on it, and certainly not those huge shields!

    Shiny Side Up!

That car is in Redondo Beach California. It's been in the same spot for years. I would not be surprised if the tires are glued to the ground.

It's awful. I wish the trash trucks would just pick it up one day.

$45,000???? I wouldn't give him $4. Who the heck would want something so hideous?

Owning a fake Ferrari or Lambo is like impressing a girl with the bulge in your pants and then revealing later it was just a rolled up sock stuffed down there.

    That's pretty terrible.

Agreed. Besides... $45k would actually get you a pretty nice Classic Ferrari anyway! I'm thinking a sorted 308 or 328? Maybe even a 348 with a little bit of work needed.

He's even more foolish setting the asking price than he was embarking on the project to begin with. :p

while I agree on the price (if it's a ferrari you want and have enough money to get one, don't get a replica. then again, maybe you're not really interested in the badge itself), I'm just wondering: did you get your ferrari as a way of impressing people? Or was it the driving experience? no need to answer, but ask yourself that question as that's basically what your sock comment is saying...

You can get a lot of car for $40K... maybe even an F355. Why, would anyone ever piss away money on these things??? The Brittish accent I guess lends to credibility huh??

    Do people even buy these?

That thing is disgustingly hideous, what's more surprising is the guy who justifies to himself that this is a good purchase!
