Its coming up! and im gonna be going for my FIRST auto show haha..kinda excited Anyone else going too? i'll be driving in from abt 2hrs away.. any tips/advice for a first timer? (=
Dont go on the weekends, not on Friday, not during lunch break, not after work. Monday through Thursday, 2nd week early hours or middle of the afternoon. That's how to avoid all the soccer moms and their baby strollers. Wear comfortable shoes. Check out the collectors/exhibitors area tucked away at the far end of the show: That's normally where you'll find really interesting stuff. Volo often has its cars there.
Probably okay if you go as late as possible. Friday after work is a bad idea though. And make sure you pick the second week.
IIRC, Continental brought a few models last year. The website doesn't list them this year. I remember way back in '06, Ferrari and Maserati brought some really cool stuff. Here are some of my pictures from '06. You'll have to excuse the "point and shoot" quality of my pictures. This was a year before I really got into photography. It's a shame. Since then, they haven't shown up. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Here some of my shots. I thought the American car manufacturers didn't have much of anything on display (last year we had the cool tie-in with Transformers), probably a reflection of the past year. The Europeans had a few good things, the gullwing Benz being the hottest in my book. However the star of the show for me was the "Ferrari killer" Lexus. That car is just so insanely cool and I love it when a company gives its engineers just carte blanche. OTOH I read a comment in a car magazine, that said if you're willing to just scrape a tiny bit of the performance figures you can have almost the same rocket for 100k less with the Nissan GTR. However when placed next to each other, the GTR just looks pedestrian. LOL! Are you sure you just took the picture and nothing else? Lets see those hands mister On the other hand.... Taking pictures in the restroom? Hmmm I don't know Andreas I wonder sometimes p.s. Are there any Fiat 500's on display?
Yeah, I hear you. It was actually funny: As I entered the restroom I noticed a guy reading the message on the door. That intrigued me, so after he left, I went there and saw it. You expect the usual gay drivel in these stalls, but here was a political message which was also very topical. PS: My only other pics I took in bathrooms were at the Kohler museum in Michigan. Those are so pretty, you feel bad using them. PPS: Didn't see a cinquecento, no.

Went last night and was really let down. Was cool to see the new Benz and the Lexus even though I think it is uglier than the GTR. There was a concept Jeep that was really sweet. I wanted to see a CTSv coupe in person but no coupe (Cadillac youre retarded). No new VW Jetta CC that debuted in Detroit (VW youre retarded) and not much else to look at. No 458 Italia I didnt see Porsche (I would have vomited on a Panamania anyways). I liked the Shelby GT500 and the TRD racing 4Runner. Scion had some fun tricked out cars also.
