what a load of crap. people just jumping on the bandwagon because they think there's money to be made. they DO have a funny feel during the transition from regen braking to disc braking, and they even skip a beat over potholes...but guess what? so does my Ferrari and just about any other ABS equipped car i've driven. there's definitely nothing 'dangerous' about it...and even though it feels odd, so does just about everything else about the car. it's a pity about all this crap. Toyota deserve better.
gee i hate conspiracy theorists!! wtf is wrong with those people? Toyota have stuffed up. They're fixing it. They've been no 1 for YEARS in reliability. if any of those guys saw the recalls, safety and otherwise, that Ferraris have they'd STFU....Ferraris and all other cars. it's just tall poppy syndrome.
I was right.....again!! According to a press release from Toyota, the world's largest automaker says customers of these vehicles have experienced inconsistent braking "during slow and steady application of brakes on rough or slick road surfaces when the ABS is activated in an effort to maintain tire traction." An update to the braking software is expected to improve "ABS response time, as well as the system's overall sensitivity to tire slippage."
but wait, there's more. AAP Toyota Prius owners in Australia will soon be contacted as part of a recall to fix the brakes of the world's most popular hybrid car. Toyota is pulling from the road 2378 Priuses that have been sold in Australia since July 2009. Worldwide, 400,000 Priuses are being recalled in Japan, the United States and Europe so a software fault with the ABS brakes can be rectified. Owners of Priuses built between April 2009 and January this year will be contacted by mail to arrange no-cost repairs - which Toyota says will take one hour. Drivers have complained about inconsistent brake feel when stopping over pot holes, bumpy or slippery road surfaces.
You think some of the suppliers did this on purpose to **** toyota and help the American companies. 2378 idiots in Australia. Not so bad. Is there any video of any of this **** happening?
The two owners of Prius' that I know were asked to come in for a software upgrade. took 15 mins....and as I said, all it does is change the FEEL...the brakes worked fine. the whole thing's a beat up.
is this going to make front page headlines too?? In 2008 Honda recalled just under 4,000 Accord and Civic (both 2001 MY) models due to an airbag problem. That recall was expanded by 443,727 vehicles in July 2009. In what is really a pre-emptive move, the Japanese automaker has now expanded the recall by 378,758 vehicles, bringing the total number of recalls for that problem to 826,425 in the US alone. Worldwide the recall will affect 952,118 vehicles. Essentially the problem is one of airbags that can deploy too forcefully, thus rupturing the inflator casing and sending metal fragments through the air bag. Honda admits to knowing of 12 such incidents, one of which resulted in a fatality. The latest recall also affects 2001 and 2002 Accord, Civic, Odyssey, CR-V and some Acura TL models. No new incidents have been reported since the July recall.
nope,....... I call conspiracy !!!! hold it, you don't believe in conspiracies This is GM and other failed US car companies taking Toymotor down a peg or two, classic case of inferiority complex on a global scale ... is that a conspiracy ??
