Why are there so few 348 for sell especially when compare to number of 355 for sell ? If people are holding on to them, the question would be why?

From the poll in another thread, no one thinks they will be collectible or highly desired like the 355. I would think that it would less 355 for sell and more 348 for sell...

My guess would be that 348 owners are so offended by the disgusting decline in 348 values over the past year or year and a half that they have decided it would not even be worth it to sell.

IMHO, I looked long and far before buying my 348 and I follow most of the discussions as I can. While I have the hope that values won't drop by half in a way it doesn't really matter to me. Buying and owning the car has been a pleasure from the start and I have no expectations for wanting to "trade out" for another model. I love the styling and even though there are many faster models, Ferrari and otherwise, I love the experience of driving it. Being committed to keeping it also allows me a bit of freedom to add custom bits here and there without the worry of resale and what would the "purists" think. I purchased at a low price initially and if it's a bit higher or lower today I don't care. The smile on my face when she fires up on a sunny day to me is way more important than the current market value. In fact, I think more about what else can I change or add next (exhaust) than what can I sell it for today. Buy it, Drive it, Enjoy it all fully after all that's why I got it in the first place. (again just my humble opinion)

    What they said.

Four feet of snow on the east coast, and prices are in the toilet so no temptation to take gains.

I think this really may be it, we have almost a dozen owners I know of, here.
They are all well satisfied with the car and maintain them in top condition.

A spyder right next to the Beer Can House looks like a brand new car, when he rolls it out on sunny days!

He bought it from his accountant, go figure!!!

The 348 is so inexpensive I would imagine most are bought with cash, as opposed to financing on the newer cars. Given the current economic reality I'm sure some of the newer cars we see for sale are to get out from under the car payment.

348's are inexpensive to insure (as a third vehicle), inexpensive to register (even with California's "new and improved" registration fees) and fairly inexpensive to maintain. Not much incentive to sell when the operating costs are relatively low and the fun factor is relatively high.

With all that has been said shouldn't there be less 355 for also at this time in the season(feet of snow in mi region also)? Especially with 355 having so many people talk about "how desirable it is"

I wonder how many people are looking for a 348 right now?

That is why my Testarossa isn't for sale right now. Although mine is still worth $75,000.00 (only because I wouldn't part with it for a penny less)

I agree with Eric...most 348's are not likely financed, so really are not a burden. With all the negative banter surrounding the 348, I think you've really got to like them in the first place to purchase one. Mine isn't for sale and I knew better than to purchase it as an investment.......

    Texas of course!
Its the looks and the sound with no cats and Tubi that does it for me. Working on the Power department again in a year or two after I take care of some other work stuff, and it would be perfect, say with 400hp :)

Its also the easiest of the "modern" Ferrari's to work on yourself, and also seems to be the choice car for more of the DIY person and true car guys that don't just go with the latest fashionable model. Might be why we find that the most active members on this forum seem to own or have owned a 348.

I have toyed with the idea of selling it from time to time, even now, as I haven't had much time for it in recent years and feel someone should enjoy it, but also as someone else has posted, selling it doesn't produce a significant windfall of cash for this model plus in this economy, and for most it doesn't provide a "financed" burden or sting of payments either, so a little voice just says....."ahhh just keep it, it looks more exotic then most of the others anyhow, and anything else is easily changed or upgraded on this car."
