OK...officially in the market for a 360. Will be doing my DD, reading all the wisdom you guys can impart. Very beginning stages as of yet, will be letting go of my 97 C2S porsche to make room (fear not, as I have 2 others for the track ;) ) THx! Jim

Welcome. I am about 3 weeks away from knowing if I will be seriously beginning my 360 search as well. What are you looking for, have you decided which options you want?

Nope...just that I know I want one ;)...Will be looking for general guidance on tranny options, mileage, interiors. Color's not really important, coupe for sure, not a spider (unless I springs for hair plugs) I'll prolly put about 1-2k a year on it. Mostly just for spirited driving, maybe taking the Mrs. out for a nite on the town when its a few miles away. Good luck in your quest...if you pull the trigger; remember, pictures are mandatory!!!

Well, one thing I know for sure, is that right there, just doesn't sound too good :D:p

Good luck with the search, just make sure the tranny and the Mrs. don't find out about each other ;):D

    Welcome to Ferrarichat
    PS. It's transmission

Just curious...why do you call it a C2S, instead of just saying "will be letting go of my '97 Porsche 911"

    C2S is a normally aspirated 911 w/ a turbo width rear end. They generally command a premium over a stock 993 C2.

    From Wiki:
The Carrera 4 S (1996) and later Carrera S (1997) shared the Turbo model's bodyshell, but housed the naturally aspirated Carrera engine in the rear. The 4S came with four-wheel drive, and retained the Turbo model's larger brake discs with the characteristic red callipers. It could be described as a "Turbo without the turbochargers and rear wing", whereas the S was in all aspects a standard Carrera underneath (the wider rear fenders were compensated with 31 mm (1.2 in) wheel spacers). Both S models had slightly lowered suspension compared to standard Carrera models. The wide body is widely acclaimed for its rear looks, but creates more aerodynamic drag, leading to slightly lower top speeds compared to the narrower siblings (about 5 km/h).

My choice of wording was confusing....sorry. I know what a C2S is, but I wonder why Porsche guys often add suffixes/descriptors to the 911 model designation when they mention their cars...like C2, or C4S, or X51, etc. I was thinking that such descriptors are a bit "TMI" (too much information) for the intended audience.

When I tell someone that I have a '99 Porsche 911, I've always thought of that as enough of a description without providing extraneous information. And I never refer to it as a 996 (it's sold as a 911, and that's what I call it, too).

Please don't think I'm being critical of your post - my response simply came from curiosity, and nothing more. However, your decision to buy a Ferrari is exciting, and that was the main point of your post. I wish you very much luck in finding a 360. It's always personal opinion, but I think of the 360 as one of the most beautiful Ferraris ever.

There's a 360 Section, specific to that model down the page, and in FerrariAds in the blue tool bar, all our members cars For Sale are there, under "V8s"....

    Welcome.

Get that 360N GT...that'll fix you right up, I'll help push it around!

BMW has begun using production designations beginning with F, rather than the previous E designations. Porsche will devise a new production ID system when the time comes.

With regard to Porsche, I think too much emphasis is placed by the public on 993, 996, 997, etc. The cars are sold as 911s, and that's how I like to refer to them. If I drive a 2008 911, there's no need for me to refer to it as a 997 - it's simply a 911.
