Here is why you do not beat these cars even with one of Pauls differentials. And it is also why you do not install the heavy duty propellor shaft. These pictures are of the transmission main shaft. In the first picture you can see how the splines have just begun looking like a barber pole at the base of the splines. The other picture is with my index finger next to it for scale. All the torque the car makes goes through that skinny shaft. At least with the early small diameter propellor shaft you have half a chance of it breaking in a sacraficial way instead of the trans main shaft.

There are not too many of the main shafts left so remember this next time you do a burnout.

Can you show us what a "normal" one is suppose to look like? For comparison?

Dude, take a good look at the base of the splines. Now just imagine those splines are nice and straight and not veering off to the right.

Hey rifle...i like the new sig. Last one was pretty funny too.

While I don't do burn outs, I'm not going to drive it like granny either. This was intended to be a high performance car and I plan to maintain it and drive it that way.

There are several places that will make the propeller shaft. You could try working with the people who do rock climbers. They can make pretty much any kind of shaft you need.

Yes you can have anything made but the cost is the problem. Usually you would probably have to make a minimum number and sit on the rest until they sell - big investment. Carobu offers upgraded internals but ive never priced them.

And what a beautiful job you did - it was cool seeing it as you were putting the final touches on it.

If someone can get me a spec sheet for the shaft ie. dimensions, rockwells etc. I would be willing to give it a go to reproduce a "better" piece at a much better price......This is one of those items I already produce for rockcrawling...... where torque is king and will find the weak link very quickly!!

Better yet would be to get one in hand to evaluate............

I tend to agree. However, getting the car moving before you shock the driveline will
be kind to the parts. Driving hard vs being abusive...Two different approaches that will
    provided two different results.

Hey John, were do you live in Dallas? I am in the Southlake/Colleyville area. Billy

It is useless! To much horsepower (450) and way too light (2300 lbs.).....And the wrong tire compound and pattern..It can't get out of it's own way. There are few videos on Youtube of it last month..........very embarrassing. As pictured below.....but then NO one made this climb, No one!!

Key words @ youtube are "Kerry" and "ice on the Hammers"....

    Stupid

I never thought this would be a deleterious combination of automotive traits!
Anyhow, how is your engine out service coming along?

Haven't even started it ...............and now I am back on tour and already have been made aware that I will not have any time at home until Fall. I have not even had a chance to drive the TR except to see if new door seals alleviated the bothersome wind noise!! I have all my parts and a new set of valve shims, the lift has been installed in the garage for a year now, got me a new carrier built, and on and on and on ............and still won't get to it until next December! I plan on taking June off this year and going to Europe and attend Goodwood then drive to Italy, tour F world then off to an island for a couple weeks, I need the rest and a real vacation badly.....................No TR service this year. I plan on getting the TR done in like a 2 week period. the engine service, bushings, clean the eintire engine bay, powder coat all suspension items, etc.. But, talk is cheap..........I need to be more motivated I guess...............

I live in Missouri City which is a suburb of Houston. Couldn't agree more about driving it spirited compared to abusive.

Would Ferrari ever do another run? I had hopes the Classiche program would motivate them to get serious about diminishing parts supplies for 1980s cars.

    Wrong website...

Possibly but I would be concerned about quality. It has been a big problem with their reproductions. It would be far better to hope for a project like Paul has done with the diff carriers. Someone with an interest to make a quality product rather than just contracting a cousin to crank out a reasonable facsimile to sell and make a few bucks. I have not seen Ferrari reproduce a single piece that lived up to original quality much less improve upon it using modern machining, design and metalurgy.
