What do you guys think? It's a sharp looking car, has a great interior, the supercharged V6 and dual clutch gearbox are cool, its plenty fast for a ragtop and it gets 20-26mpg to boot. I test drove one and am now considering buying one. Anyone have one?

Coupe looks much better. Still not quite on par with M3.

I test drove an A5 this week -- no S5's on the dealer lot. The interior is great, and the styling is much better than the M3.

I would definitely go with the S5 for performance -- A5 just wasn't all that quick.

The back seat in the coupe is for people 5'5" and under, so it's kind of a large two seater, for all intents and purposes. The convertible would be a better move.

I have the dual clutch gearbox on my TT and really like it.

I bought an S5 convertible this year for my daily driver. I like it a lot.

Each dealer gets very few S5's for their allocations.
I had to wait 3 months for mine.
Since I had to wait for them to build me one, I ordered the color combo I wanted which is the dark metallic blue with black interior and black top.

The dual-clutch transmission is amazingly quick in it.

Goes okay in the snow too. :) (as long as the snow isn't too deep for the ground clearance)

Thanks. Yes, the car has some nice lines to it. Not too flashy.

It has those unusual modern Audi headlights too. I think the smaller row of lights under the headlights stay on as day time driving lights.

Here's a pic from the front.

Note that the S5 Coupe and S5 Cabriolet use different engines and transmissions for 2010.

The S5 Coupe has the 4.2 liter V8 with 354 hp and 325 ft-lbs of torque. Engine has direct injection with variable intake valve timing. Transmission choices for the Coupe are 6-spd manual or tiptronic automatic (not the new dual-clutch trans).

The S5 Cabriolet has the supercharged 3.0 liter V6 with 333 hp and 325 ft-lb of torque. Engine also has direct injection and variable intake valve timing. Only one transmission offered - the new 7-speed s-tronic dual-clutch trans.

The new dual-clutch transmission has 4 modes: paddle shift (paddles are located behind the steering wheel), "D" for automatic drive mode, "S" for automatic higher-revving drive mode, and, if you move the knob to the right, you can manually up shift & downshift using the knob up & down. The shifting is near-instantaneous in this car. In full automatic mode, it is smoother shifting than the typical fluid-driven automatic trans. And when paddle-shifted, it is very quick. I understand the new Ferrari California is similar in the way the dual-clutch trans behaves.

The Audi website, in case you're interested in learning more, also shows all the interior features and color choices:

I'm looking for a convertible. While the M3 is a little faster, it's retractable hardtop makes for a smaller back seat and almost no trunk room when the top is down. I need a usable back seat and trunk to haul my children on occasion to and from church, music lessons(guitar), ect... Plus, the S5 fuel economy is far superior than the M3, which is a big plus for a daily driver. And, I've had an M3 and three M5s and am ready for a change. The AWD is a tangible benefit for foul weather as well. If I order by next Friday, I will get a mid April delivery. I'm thinking of going with a silver car with red top and red and black interior with the Prestige package, carbon fiber trim, adjustable sports differential...the works. The dealer I'm working with is willing to order and sell me the car for $1000 over dealer invoice.

Recent road test have shown the supercharged 3.0 V6 in the S5 Cab to be faster than the S5 coupe's 4.2 V8 and have far better fuel economy to boot.

I just bought one last month as well for my wife as her daily driver, in the same deep sea blue with the full Tuscan interior comfort package seats. It is a great car and I agree that the transmission shifts amazingly quick. Car drives so smoothly you don't realize how fast you are really going. I personally prefer a bit more road feel but its a great car nonetheless.

If you go on cars.com, Audi Henderson in Nevada has pictures of an S5 cab they are selling in exactly the same color combo you just ordered, in case you haven't seen what it looks like yet.

Love the red top, looks amazing! The interior IMO doesn't fit, the dark red looks great, but the interior seats have a brighter red, which doesn't really match.

The Magma/Black seats tend to appear brighter in photos than they really are. You need to see it in person to appreciate the color.
