NEED HELP with OPTION on 458 . please help.

Dear members/owners/fans/dealers

i put a deposit for the 458 and expect it to be delivered in november. Today got a chance to sit down with my dealer to make a check list for the options. this is actually my first ferrari that i get to choose everything on my own. here are my questions and ur responses are very appreciated!!!

1. 458 standard seat is adjusted manually? i was told if i wanted the electric seat i had to pay 8000Euro extra (with no memory) the full electric cost 12,100 euro (the price include the import duties 328%) i assumed that all modern ferrari should come with electric seat as standard option unless u want the daytona/racing seat, then i understand. my dealer agreed with me that it was ridiculous? is it the same with other countries? cause with 8000 euro, i wont complain adjusting the seat manually

2. in the configurator on the website where u can see the interior . how come the ROSSO color look so ugly and different from normal rosso on california or 599? i am trying to get two tone interior with nero/rosso. but the rosso look so ugly on the screen. is rosso on 458 diff from other models. this doesnt make sense. or is it my computer?? two tone interior cost another 5900 EURO (freaking insane)

3. i currently own a scud and love the LED sterring wheels though it doesnt really help u , but i love it. do they come as option on 458? anyone seen a 458 with LED steering wheel? i thought they save it for the light weight version. (led on steering cost another 12000 euro (u can buy another mini van with this money)

4. anyone has had parking sensor on their 430? does it help? is it that neccesary cause i dont think it does? wanna know what ur opinion on this option

so nearly 30,000 euro for two tone interior / electric seat/ parking sensor (rear) / led steering wheel...........

any idea/ comment is very helpful and appreciated.

No pricing or option costs have been released for the US market.

I have an F430 so some of this I can answer:


F430's have manually adjustable seats as standard and electric (without memory) as an option. It's one of the most ordered options on the car. I have it as it makes it easier to get in and out of the car. But, it sounds very expensive for you in your country.

I have front and rear back up sensors. Yes, they work as any other car. In a sports car where visibility can be poor, I feel it's better to have the sensors than run the car into something when parking it. They help me, particularly at the rear. However, I believe also that the rear camera should be an option on the 458. This may be more useful than rear sensors.

Don't worry about how the colors look on the configurator. Go with the painted sample from the dealer. The configurator is just to help get you to decide which family of colors to choose from.

Electric seats are not standard on the 458. I believe the cost of this option is $3,462 USD.

Some of the colors on the configurator are way off (Abu Dhabi Blu, for example, looks completely different in person). Your dealer should have cloth samples. They will definitely give you a better idea of how your interior will look.

This is an option on the 458. I believe the cost of this option is $4,563 USD.

 

This is Ferrari's new marketing plan. Low MSRP and then screw everyone with the high priced option list. I too have a Scuderia so to answer your questions:
1. My 458 will not have the electric seats. I don't need memory. I like the manual seats in the Scuderia. I think the manual seats are easier to adjust than the electric seats.

2. My interior will be one color.

3. Like you I love the LED steering wheel on the Scuderia. Maybe not necessay but helpful when I get close to redline. I will put the LED wheel on my 458 if it doesn't cost that much. US price for the steering was around $2700.

4. NO on the parking sensors.

 

1) My 458 will have the racing seat. They are expensive even without the import duties (8865 CHF in Switzerland, 1Euro=1.5CHF). But the standard seats suck. I tried both. At least for me, the racing seat is more comfortable (which is quite absurd...), and the standard seat are too high if you are tall (I am 184cm).

2) Standard colors (Rosso corsa, rosso scuderia...) are the same as on a 430 or California. Don't trust the configurator.
I don't like two tones, and it makes the resale more difficult where I live. For info, bicolor interior costs 2890CHF.

3) There are 2 options of LED wheel: one is with carbon on the whole driver zone (8100CHF...): wheel upper arch, central plate, wheel lower arch, outer crown of instrument panel, paddles
The other LED option (5230CHF) has carbon only on wheel central plate and upper arch.
I still hesitate, both seems too expensive to me.

4) Rear parking sensor is useful given very limited back visibility (1450CHF), I will pass on the front one

I've just ordered a 458, in France, delivery expected in 1 year...

1/ Seats: I've not tried the standard seats but the Racing ones. I'm 185cm and I confirm that you feel sitting very low in the car! Well, the Racing seats are great, really. 5 741 EUR. And I've also taken the Alcantara option for the Racing seats: 1 490 EUR more...

2/ LED steering wheel is an option: 3 468 EUR. (which is useless in my opinion...)

3/ Parking sensor: so useful! Believe me. I had it on my R8 V8... And I don't have them on my Gallardo LP560-4. That's so a shame!
Back only: 957 EUR
Front + Back: 1 637 EUR
(camera is not available in option... not yet ?)

4/ My question now! There is an option called "Outer sport sill cover": 658 EUR.
All the 458 I've seen, in real or in photos, got the option.
How is it without the option?? There is no cover or the cover is in the color of the exterior?

The 458 is Euro 460,000 in Singapore, we have a 135% tax

1. Electric seats are optional and cost Euro 7300 Racing seats euro 21,00. I prefer the racing seats

2. The colors don't look like the real thing and two tone cost Euro 3,600

3. LED steering wheel cost Euro 6,400

4. The parking sensor is a waste of time. You will probably damage your rear diffuser even if you have a parking sensor. Some parking lots have little curbs on them

The 458 compared to the scud is around the same price but many basic stuff now becomes options. Options will cost alot for Thailand and Singapore with the high import tax. Good luck

 

The outer sport sill cover is a joke. Without the option, that area is the same color as your car. You pay for having another color in that area. I laugh when i heard that from the dealer

 

The racing seats are euro 11,500 the earlier price was in Sin$

Agreed, of real concern is the fact that one poster pointed out the standard seats are mounted too high for taller people. Perhaps as part of the ordering process dealers should carry an example of each variety of seat in stock for customers to try out! Especially as some guys down here are hesistant to order the sports seat just in case they turn out to be very uncomfortable!

 

The seat spec offering (manual, electric, sport) has been the same since the 360 so it's no real surprise to see Ferrari continuing to take the opportunity to earn more profit. The basic seat has always had no height adjustment to encourage you to dip into the options list and pay extra for the electric seats which give you this feature. I'm not saying I agree with it but it's established practice. The electric chairs also add extra weight which flies in the face of improving performance and economy.

 

Does anyone know if the racing seats will be offered in the USA market? I hope so.

 

From what I know, the racing seat of 458 is very similar or the same as the 430 Scuderia seat.

I will not take on electric seat as an option, because it is waste of time, waiting for the electric seat to move backward while you get on/off. I rather do it manually, of course I have sport seats in my F430. I tried my friend's 430 Daytona electric seat it is just as convenient as mine IMO.

Standard seat is manual, as already said. If they fit, depends on your size. I like them and had never problems with the standard seats. IMO you don't need electric seats (if you don't need the height adjustment that is). I can adjust a manual seat way quicker than an electric one. So either standard seat of racing seats for me (in a car like the 458 I would prefer standard seats).

Colours in the configurator are way off, only rely on the samples at your dealer.

LED steering wheel is an option for the 458, quite expensive and questionable if it really is of any use (I doubt it is).

I think the rear parking sensors are an important option for a car like the 458, as rear visibility though not bad still is limited. IMO you don't need the sensors at the front, so I would order them for the rear only.

Regarding PEXS, yes it's silly to pay for grey plastic sill instead of the standard body colour (that's Ferrari, isn't it?), but in grey I think it looks better.

Prices in your country are insane BTW.

 

Someone reported that the sports seats in the 458 are more comfortable than the sports seats in the F430. In my opinion the sports seats in the F430 make the whole car seem as if it's not riding as well. Is there anyone who can report on how the 458 sports seats feel on the move, on the road as opposed to simply a few minutes of bum time in the showroom? The sports seats look hyper cool but I would never choose them for the F430 because of what they do to the (perceived) ride. Just wondering if things have changed on the 458 as I'd like to get the sports seats. By the way, I spend many hours in the saddle and cover big miles, so it matters more than for those who do quick blasts.

 

I would think the sport seats have less padding and would not be as good for long distance driving.

 

The sports seats are the same as those fitted to the Scuderia so see if you can sit in a Scuderia at a dealer and decide whether you find them comfortable. I've spent a couple of hours at the wheel in my Scud and got out feeling fine. They are definitely more comfortable than the sports seats fitted to the regular 430 which were very hard.

Bear in mind there is no height adjustment on the sports seats. It is possible to adjust the height of the drivers seat but it involves unbolting the seat from the runners at the base and re-fixing it.

 

kind of diagree, if you need a good padding just drive a Lexus, Sport seat is a lot lighter and looks fantastic, but they do have a problem, when you change gear (mine is a stick) the shouder position of the seat sort of blocking the way.....I am just talking about F430.

and there will be no such problem in 458....

Mmmm... I don't think in this day and age driving my Ferrari should be some sort of torture test. When I drive from Wiltshire in the west of England to the Stelvio Pass in Italy (as I've done a few times) I want to be in one piece when I get there. I don't want to be thinking about my numb butt all of the time.

After years of specing options on a Ferrari.. I have decided its just not worth it.
I will probably go for electric seats, shields, contrast stitching, and the LED steering.
Was going for sports seats, CF bits all over the place, rims, leather all over the place... I have decided no more need for these options coz when you sell the car they will all be valued at zero.

 

1. Electric seats are a must.

2. Forget about the two tone interior.

3. Save your money and dump the LED wheel.

4. Rear parking sensors are a must have.
