Tried the other local one today, still no luck finding a valentine Daytona. Did find the yellow 430 spider on a "short card"; don't recall seeing that before.

I've seen a lot of blue VW 181s lately. What is the "vary" that makes the difference? TIA.

I believe the high value variation is the 5 Spoke Wheel, rather than the Open Hole 5 Spoke Wheel the Type 181 normally comes with...

I had my hands on one of the high value versions earlier today; might go back and get it. Thanks.

I seem to be buried in them, I have the tan and orange versions on Open Holes and the blue on 5 Spokes... haven't seen a blue one on Open Holes yet...

Tomart's Guides are a recognized industry leader of value guides for antiques and various collectibles. Each one is written by some qualified expert in the particular field. Their Hot Wheels ons is done by Michael Strauss. He is a well know & respected expert on Hot Wheels. I have some of his Tomart's guides, though they are now a few years old and probably out of date.

I personally think that many of them were done when eBay was new and collectors were paying stupid money for those missing pieces of their collections. There have also been rumor stories and accusations that Michael Strauss over-inflates some values to make his personal collection appear more valuable than it may be.

I am not sure if there is a current year version of the Tomart's guide available out there, but it may be worth looking into. I guess my only other concern about the values represented in there is that a majority of Hot Wheels collectors seem much more interested in muscle cars and old Redlines than any of the exotics that many of us here are into. This may make some exotic models appear to be not so in demand. YMMV...

To help out with the Vary that is the High Dollar, here is all the VW Type 151 listed in Lee's -

Metalflake Blue, Clear Windshield, Malaysia, Open 5 spoke - $2.00
Metalflake Blue, Pink Tinted Windshield, Malaysia, Open 5 spoke - $5.00
Metalflake Blue, Pink Tinted Windshield, Malaysia, 5 spoke - $12.00
    Tan, Malaysia, Open 5 Spoke - $2.00
    Orange, Malaysia, Open 5 Spoke - $4.00
    Orange, Malaysia, 5 Spoke - $20.00

If you find the 5 Spoke Metalflake Blue Vary, Look at the windshields closely. I found 3 of the Pink tinted at Target. It is more obvious if you look at where the roof is attached to the windshield.

Apex - I will get a pic of Snow Ride for here in a bit.

Here is another Vary I need to check to see if I have it.
    2009 #153 Ferrari F430 Spider
The Yellow has a Vary with a Pink Tinted Windshield booking at $8.00

It doesn't look like either of mine are pink tinted.

I went to 2 other WMs yesterday (for a total of 4 stores visited) and struck out. Let me try a 1 or 2 more thru the weekend (for the thrill of the hunt) and I'll let you know. Thanks for the offer.

Errors to hard to price. I have sold a few different errors in the past for $50 or more, and some for only $5-$10. Normally its car errors, and wrong car on wrong card errors that I have seen sell for $$$. My guess is its not gonna leap up in price because its a insert error and the car, blister and card are all normal.
I see another one on Ebay right now with an Acura insert.

    LOL it must be.
I think I posted this here before, but they did even worse on this one.

I bought it because it has a paint scuff on the door..few days later I noticed the interior was missing as well lol.
