I think you'd be remiss not to order the valves and springs. The camshafts might feel lonely without them. ;)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Nothing says love like a set of titanium keepers. Order spares and make her a set of ear-rings!!

Well of course I'd get her matching Ti retainers to go with her springs, that goes without saying.....I don't think she'd ever forgive me if I forgot the Ti retainers.

I think in the last actual working installment of the project I had just finished the temporary seats. Today I started grind out the ports to match the seat location and ID. I’ll finish this up then decide what come next.....probably get get the opening on the manifold side right, then use the templates I made to help me get the shape in the middle part right.

It's in their job description. Haven't you ever read chapter #3 You Too Can Be A Rebellious Youth, section 3 How To Be A PITA.

They grow out of it, and think you are cool again. It just takes a number of years!

    Ciao,
    George

    Great news about the cams!

Be careful with them though: I don't know how true the heads are after all the work that's been done to them, and you don't want to break one of those nice new shafts.

Yeh, my guess is the heads will not be straight. The plan is to cut the heads on both sides so they are flat again then recut the cam journals straight and new.

Now when I said I was planning to grind the ports to match the seats, whos job was it to point out that I have a milling machine that would make them all perfect in about 45 minutes, 35 or that being the set-up time then 30 seconds per port?

If you haven't guess I decided to put the heads back on the mill to cut the ID then grinding to match became fast and easy with no change of buggering up me temp flowbech seats.

Now I'm off too the Honda motorcycle dealer to have a look at the parts book to be certain the ATV valves/seatings/seats I'm planning to use are a good plan. More grinding when I get back.

You just need to wire a 220v circuit into the babys room.

I just got an automated call from UPS warning me that my cams are coming tomorrow signature required. there is a chance the driver will come late enough in the day that Lana is home, but most likely there will be no one home to sign for it so they will go back to the depot and I’ll have to drive up to the depot to get them Saturday..….I just hate signature required packages……..

Call UPS and ask if you can leave a signed note on the door?

No, they have to see you sign it.

I will try leaving a note on the door telling the driver when Lana will be there and he can get the signature....maybe that will work.

I just saw the oddest thing on a CNN news report. Seems some guy in an un-nammed town was observed riding down the street at dusk last night on a pony, with a lantern in his hand yelling, "THE CAMS ARE COMING! THE CAMS ARE COMING!"

Is anyone following a long here a Matlab Simulink user?

If so the ECU portion of the project could use your help.

Lana got home in time to sign so I have pictures!

Everything looks at least close to right so that’s good. The lobes are BIG. The exhaust lobes appear a tad fatter but I think that is an optical illusion as due to them not being as tall as the intakes.

One pic shows the new cams with the stock 400 cam, the next with the stock TR cam....both look pretty sad by comparison.

The intakes currently hit the sides of the bucket bore but I think once I bore them for the oversize and relocated buckets I'll be good, if not I have a grinder to fix it.

The exhaust cams miss the bucket bores, but JUST barely.

    It's a good day.
