Probably limited by prior agreement, electronics or fear of wadding it up. ;)

    impressive

I like how it looks in the red and the wheels, the whole thing. They've taken the 599 shape and GT concept and enhanced it a great deal. It must be blissful to drive it.

I love it. The fan that sucks out of the diffuser and on to the rear wing--guess that is why it will not race--it is a movable aero device.

It never was designed to be raced...it's a test car for components.

Sell them for big bucks to recover R & D costs.

+1 +1 +1...brilliant sounding and looking on the track; just love the slats on the "bonnet", the side cooling farings by wheels and the rear center exhaust/diffuser w/modified tail. Even the donuts look very cool. Lose the winglets and its already perfect :)

Sadly, I'm told the exhaust/rear diffuser won't make the GTO but no matter, put the rest on it and...

I wonder that 599GTO is road version and deriving directly from this 599XX!?

If YES...it would be good bargain. Cuz the 599GTO is pricing just only 1/3 of Euro1M 599XX.

Dream on my friend. 599GTO is a road car first and foremost. It will be an evolution of the 599 with some styling queues from the 599XX that are primarily cosmetic.

Exactly. But, look for this on the next street car. Like the flexible wings on the front of the 458, Ferrari is thinking outside the rules for its road cars.

Not a chance. Useless on a road car with road ground clearance.

many elements are XX derived on the GTO but you cannot compare a road car, which has to meet the ever more stringent road rules set forth by Governments to ensure that we are safe with a car developped uniquely for the track.

The GTO is quicker around Fiorano than an Enzo and a whole lot slower than an XX - obviously.

Comparing price makes no real sense

Peter, is this primarily due to the electronic traction control devices derived from the XX that's going into the GTO? That's still very impressive due to the size and weight of the two cars (GTO & Enzo).... The GTO must have shaved off a lot of weight I'd guess.

I also imagine the results might be different around another track that favors the Enzo's characteristics. Any experience with this that you can share?

I think that it is really quite simple! The evolution of the species!! THe Enzo is now a 8 year old car and technology has improved in leaps and bounds. The Enzo is not exactly a lightweight although admittedly lighter than the 599 (even in GTO form), but don't forget that tyres too have progressed massively and that is worth a great deal too.

Remember that a Scuderia is as quick as an Enzo around Fiorano but then so is a 458 with the ease and comfort thrown in!

You make a very good point on all counts. Had forgotten that it's already 8 years old! I read your comment and quickly looked at it from the perspective of power to weight and some technology. Totally forgot about tires (assuming old tires were used on the Enzo), etc.

In any case, looking forward to your feedback over time on the XX since this will no doubt be a very limited run like RTB's FXX experiences. :)
