my 348 was sold in italy, shipped to Japan and found its way to the states.

my question is about the cats, my car doesnt have thermocouplers that i can find.
the cats look alot like the pre mufflers #44 on the diagram attached.
WHAT DOES "VALID FOR SA" MEAN?

    anyone else have this setup?
I'm gonna get test pipes via gothspeed but wanna make sure everything will go smoothly.

    thanks for looking.

Just a wild guess but perhaps SA=Southeast Asia.

I'm sure Daniel @ Ricambi will set us straight sooner or later.

Saudia Arabia (check your air filter for sand! :)

Since it's a pre-muffler and not a cat. it does not need a thermocouple. Cats. get hotter than the actual exhaust gas entering them (I believe) through a chemical reaction which ends up reducing emissions. Your pre-muffler is not going to get super hot like that so no need for a warning via a thermocouple.

word up, my next question is it worth it to replace pre-mufflers with test pipes? are the pre-mufflers restrictive at all?

By definition (muffler or pre-muffler) it's reducing sound somewhat so the choice is yours. I know I would replace them. Might even get a tiny hp gain, although it wouldn't be noticeable. Perhaps the market for your car didn't require emissions reduction then but maybe had noise restrictions??
