Chris- That one definitely has some unusual features. The rotating headlights were not introduced until much later. Looks great, though, including the black and red interior. A Phoenix Daytona. Somebody saved the wood steering wheel, or found a great replacement.

My father's best friend, my brother's Godfather, had an original 1973 GTB/4 in Marrone that he purchased new, and owned until the late 80's. The car was registered in France, and spent it's life under his care in Paris and Antibes. He sold it, as he was about 87 years old, to a collector from Japan, or so the story goes. At that time, it was immaculate, and still driven regularly. We always wondered what happened to it, as he was originally going to leave it to myself and my brother until our parents stepped in and convinced him not to - their "logic" being that there were no roads in the US to drive so fast a car, and they were worried we would kill ourselves in it. SO GLAD they were thinking of our well-being!

If anyone knows anything about a car with a similar history, I would appreciate any info you've got. Ideally, I would love to find this car and make an offer to the current owner.

    Thanks in advance!

Marrone Colorado was quite popular back then. Do you happen to know the chassis number of the car? Was it delivered new in Italy? Or in France? An European version delivered new in France? Through Charles Pozzi SA? Interior color? Do you know the original French license plates?

Would you say this is Marrone Colorado or was it a darker brown?

I only have one RHD Daytona in my list in this color [14881] but it's now red, so no point posting a pic of that!!
    Thanks Grant

No! This Daytona Spider is #14383 of Emilio Garcia and it is Nocciola 106-M-27. NOT Marrone Colorado which is much more chocolate brown.

This is #17077 owned by Swiss Ferrari dealer Niki Hasler of Basel and yes, this is Marrone Colorado 106-M-73 as originally delivered. An U.S. version which went new to France and then came to Switzerland.

Thanks Marcel, i am learning slowly.
I have just looked at my paint chips and they have another color called Marrone Dino Met 106-M-73, so could it have been that color which looks a grey/brown, on my paint chips, or have you ruled that out because it was a 73 car?

GTB/4 do you remember if it was the dark brown as in the photo above?

Spider was a slow seller back then. 16913 with wire wheels was displayed at the Toronto auto show in 1974. It shared space with a silver Dino 246 Gts as well.

Your comment about the 365 GTS being a slow seller is true when they were new. I visited Hollywood sports cars in 1973, they had a Daytona coupe and spider on the showroom. I was admiring both the spider and coupe when a salesmen approached me and asked if I liked the cars, of course I said yes and he then surprised me by saying if you are interested in the spider we could discount about $2500 off the sticker, as I recall the sticker on the spider was$27,500, he said it yours for $25,000. I replied that I was surprised by the discount and he said well look at the two which would you rather have we can't sell these spiders the coupes look so much better. Of course I was a 21 year old kid with no money for any Ferrari at that time but it is interesting to see how things do change over time.
