Porsche guys &Corvette guys

Are the characteristics really that obvious? Can one own both without ostracism?

 

no. Porsche guys and Corvette guys must get into a gun battle every time they see each other.

of course, Corvette guys use a Remington 12 gauge and Porsche guys use one of these...

We I've owned both, but hey I'm a carnut, that mean car, not car brand. I love corvettes.

Amen, I think the Z06 is incredible looking from the outside, the ZR-1 even more so.

 

I am a Porsche nut, a Ferrari nut and a Corvette nut.......no conflict here.

 

I've got a few of both. Different cars, but enjoy each of them equally. I've never understood the single marque fanatics that can't see past the emblem on their hood. Their loss.

 

Exactly. I think the C6 is the best looking and easiest-to-drive-fast Corvette yet, but then I open the door and expect to see an Avis or Hertz tag hanging on the key fob.

As far as ostracism, it probably depends on the owner. I've known Porsche owners who are some of the coolest car enthusiasts out there, and others who are stuck-up idiots.

I had a C6 before I bought my Cayman S. It was a fun car, and I can't say anything bad about it. Even the interior didn't offend me...well, the seats weren't great, I'll admit that.

A fun car is a fun car! No snobbery here, but I do know what you're talking about.

 

I currently own a 997 Coupe as my daily driver, but have owned several Corvettes and respect them quite a bit. A car guy is a car guy. I have to say, I really which they would just improve the materials on the interior of the C6 as well as the seats. Its funny the C4 had IMHO better materials but was less ergonomic.

 

My folks have had both.

My dad bought his 1982 Corvette new just a couple of months after I was born. He kept it 14 years and used it as his daily driver year round. I have very fond memories of that car, including sitting on my dads lap and steering as he stepped on the peddles(only around our circular track neighborhood). The 1982 was the last year of that body style and his white/red combo really set it off. My dad was very emotional when he sold that car.

My folks bought my moms 2006 Guards Red Boxster new almost 4 years ago. She still has at and it serves as her daily driver year round. My wife and I use it on nice summer days to go for long cruises.

Getting back to the point...Some people are very loyal to their manufacture. Some are cool about it and appreciate the other great marques. Others folks not so much. Me, I can see the greatness of Porsches and Covettes, just as I see in Austin Healy, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls, Jag, Lamborghini, Maserati, etc...All those marques are very cool and give me a sense of excitement when I see one on the road or parked some where. None of those cars I just listed however can produce even a fraction of the excitement as a FERRARI though.

 

I like both. I am a bit mystified by the Corvettes have crappy interiors bit, though. I think Porsche is better, but I give the nod to the C6 over 996, and the 997 is significantly better than both, and well it should be given the price differential.

Chevy brings in more cost-effective performance and how can you expect the same interior?

I have no interest in my wife's 996 and we in fact replaced it with a AMV8, which really made the 996 she had look crappy in & out. Even then, I like my Z06 better because the performance is simply breathtaking in comparison to the AMV8 or 996. Then again the poorly bolstered seats of the Z06 are a shame.
