Heard the over/under on jail time is 35 years.
That should coincide with the end of our current recsssion (contrary to what the gubmit says). Perfect timing! BT
What happen to the fchatter defending this crook's character? yes, he was super generous, with other people's money.
I assume she has to hand over any assets as result of ill-gotten gains. And potential criminal charges from aiding the conspiracy?
That is their way of buying protection and good will for the day it all comes down. This office had more than just corruption issues. They litigated some of the most non-issues cases you could imagine. A house of cards that existed on a false perception of glamor. But, enough glitz and the clients come pouring in with little thought or investigation apparently.
She is trying to claim some of the assets of the pre-ponzi days, although they got married after the Ponzi scheme was started. Maybe she is trying to get her face in the media enough to meet someone new that has financial abilities. Scottie (the Fchatter) has a pretty tough case, but if he wins it, he will get lots of exposure. BT
Exactly. Anybody with a few brain cells could tell this guy was a crook from the jump. He goes from an obscure law firm in Plantation to big-time Las Olas player with big political connections in a couple of years, not to mention the ultra-lavish lifestyle that would normally take decades to achieve. I get a real charge out of people who say Rottenstein has a heart of gold.....Yeah, other people's gold.
Can't help her that he posted here that the Slimeball was really mis-understood and that he was really a great guy and a generous guy and that in the end he will be vindicated and that his real fault is that his mommy didn't potty train him properly and let him watch too many re-runs of "Petticoat Junction" and that he never played competitive sports, because it was too rough---ENOUGH! The poster here made HUGE excuses for Rothstein and chided me for speaking too soon--and said something to the effect that I was speaking out of turn. Let me tell you . . . Rothstein is a freaking criminal slimeball. No other words describe him.
i reckon his creditors get first dibs on all his assets, pre-or post marriage. I cringe when all criminals first response is I am innocent of all charges. Just like the Stanford guy and the Rajantum guy. For Rothstein to tell CNN reporter that he had to escape to Morroco to get his head sorted is such a punk ass move, i respect him more if he just said "ok, you caught me"
Wait a second. I re-read all of Scottie's posts. In case you don't want to re-read, let me give you the Cliff's notes. He first posted this thread shouldn't be on FChat because the guy hadn't been charged with a crime yet. He commented on Rothstein's generosity. He never made excuses, never said he would be vindicated. He then followed up with the post indicating he couldn't comment any further because he was representing Kim Rothstein. You're out of line saying Scottie made HUGE excuses for the guy, simply didn't happen. I think even Scottie would agree Rothstein is a criminal slimeball. Rothstein admitted what he did, plead guilty and now faces a lot of years in jail, so there's no doubt about that, it's a fact. I hear things from an attorney friend who was officed near RRA. Everybody saw the smoke and knew that someday there would be fire. The fire happened and the Feds are picking up the pieces. Rothstein's the tip of the iceberg, he plead guilty to a RICO case so more are sure to go down. The $1.2 Billion is probably a huge overstatement by the Feds. I'm told almost all the money was dirty anyway, the main funders of the scheme were of dubious reputation. Feds are all over muliple angles--where the $ came from, who really received distributions, who else internally at RRA knew what was going on, and campaign funding fraud. If the guy stole a bunch of money from crooks and spent it on himself, and is cooperating and therefore brings down a bunch of real criminals, I think he'll get some consideration but still will face a lengthy jail sentence. Word on the street is 35 years. What a waste of a life, IMO.
I hope he doesnt get off in a year for good behavior. I went to high school with Andy Fastow from Enron. He was sentenced to 10 years but got it changed to six, and his wife got only one year. They cired about not being able to see their kids if they were both sentenced at the same time, so she went first and then he went after she got out. But during the time of the trial the kids where staying in the 10 million dollar house that he bought for his wifes parents. It's not like they were going to be homeless without anyone to watch them. If people rob a bank it is a federal offense and there is a 10 year automatic jail sentence. These scumbags rob people of billions of dollars and just get out in a few years. They should give Madoff and others like him the death penalty for ruining so many peoples lives. I think etiher Skilling or Lay from Enron died a few weeks before he was supposed to go to jail (wonder if he really did or if he paid someone off and is living on an island somewhere) and they felt sorry for his wife and didnt go after her for the money she swindled.
Rumors are that JR Dunn and Levinson's will be closing soon (if they haven't already). Seems their best customer won't be in for a few decades. How Bova has stayed open is one of life's mysteries.
JR Dunn's shut down the Las Olas shop, we got an invite as we're customers. We always go to Lighthouse Point though. Levinson's has been in trouble since they moved east. Bova--meh. Boca Cucina in Boca shut down months ago, there are far better high end places around for sure.
I have a different perspective . . . I didn't re-read all the posts, but I remember two posts in particular (also, there was another thread on this so if you are going to be thorough, then make sure to check both places). The two that I remember vividly, because they were directed at me were this: I needed to withhold judgment because the allegations were so wild that they inflamed the rage of people and that when the truth came out it would be very different from everything that the press had reported--the obvious import of that was that Scott Roth was a victim of someone else's crime and that there was a 'back story' here. The second post was that SR was a generous man who gave a lot more than he took. That he was misunderstood and that I was being rash by getting out front and persecuting Scott on this forum--I was told it was better to reserve judgment than join the fray. While you can dress those statement up any way you want, the poster was clearly saying he had more and better information than anyone on this board and that the truth would be not nearly as bad as the press clippings. In hindsight, this was 180* wrong. SR was, is and always will be a slimeball. And the other Scott can have a nice dish of crow. (Although I have no personal animosity vs the lawyer--I am challenging his statements, not his character.)
Are you an LSU fan? I ask because normally when people are proven correct, they don't need to harp on it for weeks to make someone else feel bad. BT
Bova Cucina....was that the one on US1 near Glades? If so, I liked it better when it was plain old Mario's.....good food, no pretense. Jack.
Obviously Scottie the lawyer was friend's with the Rothsteins and defended them not from an objective viewpoint. The smoke and fire was all there but Scotty chose not to notice or he did but choose to defend the slimeball for whatever reason. The criminal was right in front of him, no need to look elsewhere. The beauty of this forum is that we are "chatting" and can express our true thoughts and opinions on any matter. No need for a court of law to render any verdict here, we all knew once the story broke he was guilty.
Ken Lay died while his case was on appeal. The law of the jurisdiction was that since his appeal became moot, it was treated as a dismissal of the underlying charges. But he did die, and that was too good for him.
That is pretty funny. No, not a fan of the kittens. My money and my son go to the "U." And I have been a fan since the Schnellenberger days. Unfortunately, I am a lawyer too, so I just have this need to tie up all loose ends.
Keep checking Bob Norman's articles on the weekly paper New Times. He is definitely digging out some real feces on SR and his close ties.
