I got married last week and I am trying to help my wife find a job here, in South florida, so that she can relocate from st. Petersburg.

Shelly (that would be the new wife) is experienced in community relations and public relations as well as marketing and advertising. She has been a Public Relations Director in non-profit for over 17 years but is interested in moving back into the private sector.

If anyone has any leads or ides, I would be most appreciative.

    Thanks in advance.

The first thing she will need is a résumé that captures and markets her experience in community relations and public relations, marketing and advertising.

Its a tough job market in S. Fla. Your wife should be as competitive as possible on paper. Otherwise her phone won’t ring for the interview.

This co. has a good reputation as helping professionals get from point A to B.

Scottie, you should have told her to HAVE a job before you got married! LOL

    Best wishes!

She does have a job - in St. Pete. Would rather have her here on the East Coast.

Now post a picture! Buddy, that's great news and I know everyone here joins me in sending the very best well wishes.
Curious, why St. Pete? Did you run through all the eligible women on the east coast?

Is she good with taking a machine polisher across 120 microns of super expensive paint?

Sorry I cannot help but congrats on getting married!

    Congrats!

I'll pass the word on to my friend who is a head hunter but the job market right now stinks in south Florida.

I use to do searches on Monster and Career Builder and get pages of results now I'm lucky if I get a full page back. It seems that unless you are in the service industry this is the area NOT to be.

http://justaskboo.com/ ... Interesting, primarily marketed towards women.

Tell her to sign up for the free eJab newsletter from justaskboo.com.

It's a cool little networking Web site and email newsletter that goes out 2-3 times a week. There's job postings, charity events info, networking items, etc. She can send the organizers an e-mail and ask to have a blurb about her added for the rounds.

Well, @ least is what Casey told me (she works with the same field) ... on the cool side, she is working, good luck!

Before quitting her current job to move here, just have her act up and do crazy/stupid things there at work so they fire her and she can collect unemployment. Then, she can just sit home, drink beer, do nothing about her unemployment status or make any real effort to get a new job, compain that 'no one is hiring' and that Obama hasn't created new jobs......... all while continuing to get unemployment payments to contribute to the household income!

This scenario seems to be working just fine for some of my tenants............ :(

I was working for a credit union and they closed the office that I was in after the landlord decided to vacate the building and cancel our lease.

The company said they would see if their were any openings in other offices or departments, but I was told yesterday that there arent any so I will be laid off in three weeks. Right now I am just helping out in a branch. I guess it is for the best, since their headquarters is near Miami and it would be an hour and a half commute each way with traffic if they found something for me in one of the departments. I want to stay in the Palm Beach area but would possibly consider moving around the Orlando or Titusville/Daytona area since my parents have a vacant condo there.

I have been both a branch and department manager (ATM Department and Annuity Sales) Most of the bank branch management positions are heavily sales based and I am OK with that, but have found that many banks now are just about sales and charging fees at the expense of customer satisfaction. Or if you exceed the sales goals, they raise them the following year so they can pay you less. I also like Treasury Operations which involves handling banking relations within a company, like setting up banking accounts, reconciling them, making investments, etc but have no idea of how to get my foot in the door doing this.

If anyone has any contacts or could give me any tips, I would appreciate it.

Scotty: You might want to have your wife contact Workforce Alliance in West Palm. I believe they have contacts with different offices within the state and see might be able to go to a office on the West Coast and see if they could check their databases for openings around here.

yeah it works well for my tenants too always has. I think there has been 20% unemployment around here for the last 100 years.
