When driving above 60mph, my side windows rattle in the tracks if they're rolled up. If I push them with my finger, the noise stops. There's about 1/8" of movement in the channel where the window can move when it's up. Anybody know where I can get this C shaped channel for a 1984 GTB QV? I don't care at all if it's not the original Ferrari stuff or doesn't come in a yellow box. I just want something that holds the window securely and stops the rattle.

I included a pic to show the piece I need.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Thanks! I ordered enough for both sides from here:

    http://www.technologylk.com/crl-flexible-flocked-rubber-glass-run-channel-for-1963-1967-ford-and-mercury-1966-1971-fairlane-and-comet-and-1972-1975-international-truck-96-in-long-lk-AS134096.html

$52 with shipping. Can anyone help me with some installation lessons learned? I'm guessing this goes clear down into the door. How's the best way to change out the old stuff? Do I need to remove the door panel and the window entirely?

if it's a real close match, make sure you post this to the "parts cross reference" thread.

Jacen, I did my GTB about 2 years ago. Its not difficult to figure out, just takes time. The old stuff just pulls out with not much effort. I ran a very small bead of black RTV in the channel before pressing in the new stuff. The hardest part is figuring out how to work around the glass inside the door. The second door goes a lot faster because you know what to do. Plan on a good full day and lots of coffee. Joe

Viper, how much length did you order. Mine is a 328 GTB and guess I need the same quantity as yourself.

Trying to slowly stock up for a possible restoration in the distant future.

Stephen, I bought 2 96" pieces. Each door is more than 50", so you need 2 for sure. I'll post again when I figure out how to install this.

Yes, it goes clear down inside the door.

Two 8 foot pieces will fix you up for sure on a GTS, and should be enough, barely, on a GTB.

    Thanks Doug,
How do I get it into the channel down inside the door? Do I need to remove the door panel and window? Can I just slide it down from the top? I guess my plan is to remove the door panel, pull the old stuff out, lower the window, and then try to force the new stuff into the track between the window and the recess where it goes.

One 96" length will do one GTB door with about 8" left over if I recall correctly. And yes you have to disassemble the inside of the door and remove the speaker. I had my window motor out for overhaul so Im not sure if it has to come out or not for just the felt replacement. Im guessing it will be a lot easier to do with the motor out though? YOu don't have to remove the window glass but it does need to be lose so you can move it around a little. THe felt does go all the way down to the bottom of the door. It sounds real complicated but once you've done one door the other will be a snap. Joe

I bought a big 'ol roll of the stuff from T Rutlands a year ago. $72. Not much F-tax on that and it could even be OEM. I tried the local glass shops but they were hopeless. Not dealing with them is worth at leat the $15 extra.

    Great thread, Viper!

In case others didn't know this, it was correct to remove that black paint from the A-pillars, since only the 1983 GTS had had them.

You have much talent. Thanks for sharing your "how to" info. with us.
