Who thinks this car is a serious project?

 

I personally think it is more a technical show-case of what Ferrari can do with hybrid energy. The use of the hybrid energy with KERS and a button for extra boost isn't something that would reduce the current CO2 emissions of de 599 in general. Perhaps they can use the hybrid technology in reducing the CO2 emissions when driving though town, the fuel consumption of any Ferrari in town-traffic can be significantly reduced without tampering with the soul of the engine noise when you push the pedal.

 

Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa: "...He went on to reveal that the 599 Hybrid set for next month’s 2010 Geneva Motor Show isn’t destined for production...Felisa said early hybrid prototypes are already showing improvements in fuel economy of more than 25% but stressed that the technology is just not ready for production and likely won’t be for another five years..."

nevertheless the idea of reducing consuption is correct but selling our historh and heritage nominating a Pak/80bhp/better brakes: GTO is pure marketing stupidity...

It's a hybrid so It'll still have the v12. It's just a v12 with the addition of electric motors, so no, it should still have that v12 wail.

 

I would think most of that fuel efficiency gain would come from stop-start, in city driving. And all that really requires is a few modifications to the electronics, and a bigger battery.

 

wonder what Ferrari will charge for the Hybrid premium...lol

 

They'll require you to take two Masers out of inventory to get on the list...

 

Ferrari is preparing for what will be expected in the future, it's quite obviously in the first few stages, it'll be cool to see what comes of this

In engineering terms, this is not exactly cutting edge... If Ferrari think this is innovative, then they clearly haven't been doing much research. By comparison, here is what the competition are up to:

Man, you aren't kidding. That's a beautiful machine, and incredibly efficient too. I like that some of these cars aren't going to be giving up performance in the migration to cleanliness.
