Hi, The toggle switch on the console for the fan stopped working. I think it's the switch itself that's broken, because I don't feel a click anymore. I've already found some threads about removing the top console cover which holds all the switches but was wondering if the wires allow enough slack to lift the cover and be able to disconnect the switch? And how exactly is the switch itself to be disassembled/removed? Thanks.
There's plenty of wire to lift the console cover, there should be a ring nut on the top side of the switch just below the button. Unscrew and you're home free. I can post pics of mine if you need, I have everything apart at the moment.
Thanks, if you could take some pictures that would be great. One more question about the black knob itself. Do I just pull it off the small lever, or is it screwed on?
On mine all the knobs pulled off with the exception of the areal switch which unscrewed. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just replaced my hazard switch. The panel is held in by a small lip in the back and the screws in the ash tray. After removing the screws the panel lifts up a little, the wires have enough slack to move the panel up about a couple of inches. Close quarters but you will make it.
Thanks a lot, very helpful! I'm going to work on it tomorrow. BTW I think Superformance sells replacement switches for a reasonable price (something like 29 GBP plus VAT and S&H).
So today I worked on the console and switch. The ashtray didn't come out very easily and someone had put a lot of grease around the springs. Also the console top plate didn't loosen easily either. I had to gently pry it loose with a flat screw driver all around the edge. At the back it didný come loose at all. Anyway, I did manage to get the switch out. It seems that if it's broken, it can't be fixed (nothing left to take apart). So I guess there's nothing left but to order a new one. Before I do I have one question: should the fan also work without the engine running?
Order a new one. The switches are old and gone. If you did manage to fix it, it will break again very soon. Those switches are expensive for what a switch is ...
