Dude, do u know the full LTA regulations & fees for classics?

    1) >35yrs old?
    2) Start to shop, buy, pay cash & arrange to send to port
    3) Get a shipper (best with experience in cars) load up container then clear it @ PSA. Heard it's S$5-10K
    4) Pay 20% customs duties + 7% GST
    5) Tow it home or workshop
    6) We have up to 3 yrs to register it.
    7) Any other fees involved? OMV & COE, how about insurance?

I don't know about u but I'd rather have one good classic than several lower ends & to me the 70s Alfa spider is low-end of the game. Since you're going through so much trouble to bring one in, might as well do it once on a special one. The effort & expenses are the same. Besides, there's probably 6 other spiders in town on normal plates.

I was thinking of the Pagoda but value has inched up 50% since & now @ 30Kpds for a good one which is about the same for a local car on normal plate = not worth it.

I can be tempted on the 60s 230/80SE coupe or convertible as I've never seen one here.

There's at least one pontoon brought in few years back.

Yes Jon, I agree that you should do a very special car, esp one that S'pore doesn't have rather than those that we can find.

For shipping, takes 3-4weeks. I used Regent Express and I can vouch for their exemplary service + experience with cars. Owner has the black CS and is a car lover himself. Regent will take care of all paperwork + delivery of car to your workshop.
Cost is approx 5-8k as I think shipping rates have gone up slightly.

The only duties is the 20%? Nothing else? If that is the case, can consider.

    You can check out:
    1. http://www.carsinternational.com/
    2. http://www.dkeng.com/
    3. http://www.foskers.com/

These are some of the guys that I have met personally and they are all reputable, wouldn't sell you a fake car type but also wouldn't sell you cheap.

DK engineering has a 512BBi that is extremely tempting. If the UK economy tanks further, we may see more of these cars on sale. Trouble is, the economy has tanked much more than the prices of these cars. Best bargain is still a private deal but you got to fly there to PPI the car and it can be very tedious and time consuming.

Was told US$2900 by another guy but not sure if inclusive of forwarding etc.

I think we should set up a little club thing about this & exchange info.

Yes, was told 20% but I'm expecting extras & COE too (which is subsidised?)

Actually, I rely on current issues of Classic car magazines like Octane etc. but I just spoke to a very typical English dealer 30mins ago=no good!

I was just asking if he can do better & he wanted to hang up on me! Then, pressurized me to send the money asap if keen to book it as he has buyers. How can he expect anyone to pay GBP90K on a car unseen, with no history & all sales talk plus an attitude of a Spanish bull :(

Another German specialist charges Eu1000 a day excluding travelling to inspect a car in Europe.

Think I'm in the wrong business!

Btw, King. Are you the agent for the region? I'll be interested to do fashion.

1976 was the first time i saw a countach in the car park of my university( menlo park), it was purple with white. Till this day, i cannot get this car out of my mind. As for the fashion business, i have rights to a few countries for a few brands. In all cases, i manage these stores ourselves. If you are interested in this industry, will be happy to give you more info. PM me.

was thinking that this is a car i really like so if i can buy a really good condition one n its still significantly cheaper than a local unit i still might do it - dont really need it on a normal useage basis

Not that I can afford it ;) but if he had been more friendly, I could save up for one later. And I actually forgot that i have a near concourse 456 sitting in KL!

That said, I've always wanted a Jaguar so I'd be keen on a 50-60s XK, a body so sexy that it's often been used in advertisements & has some racing history. Or the E type with louvered bonnet will be nice too.

    PM sent.

Ahh yes, looks like every car guy has had a fair share of supercar fantasy. Glad yours was a countach & a disco color for that matter! :)

Imagine having one exact spec you saw in one of your salon!

Yes mate. I heard a guy has a few of these so even @ 28days, he got a chance to drive each often enough & still cheaper on the depreciation of modern exotics!

That particular countach was owned by a saudi prince from my school. It was the first time i had seen a countach and in PURPLE/WHITE. Wah if i can find one like that today, i may just go for it.

Problem with 90k sterling is that it does open up your choices quite a bit. A Countach LP400/500, 512/365BB, Dinos, Jag XK/E type and don't forget Astons as well. The stuff that dreams are made of but how to decide? I also want them all!

Actually if you guys like the E-Type, the series 2 4.2L droptops are only asking around 20-35k as compared to double for the 3.8 S1. Though the 3.8 is lovely, it is not worth (to me) double the cash for the 4.2 which isn't a bad looker as well. Once you get a drop top E-type, you got yourself a damn nice head turner. So Tim, Jon and MP - we'll await your decision.

    Hi King,

Is this Countach color similar to the first Countach you saw?
