Jon, if you were going to modernise a vintage car, would it actually cheaper to simply rebody a modern car to look exactly like a vintage car?

I may have made that mistake. It's either a 355 or a 348, but I never managed to take a good look :(

Hmmm I don't know whether it'll be the same. A modernised DB5 for example would still be a DB5 to me, but a rebodied uhm, I don't know, MG TF would still be a MG TF to me.

    What do you guys think?

    Good question!

I supposed it's like buying a Bufori? :) or those Panthere Kallista

Damn, I'm even tempted to just buy a classic & keep @ home for display. Treat it as a furniture & can still sell it later easily. Better than having a koi pond :D or hifi room

Wow you really know your car brands! I was thinking of Morgan, but Buforis sound pretty cool.

Speaking of Bufori, have you seen their latest model at the Geneva Motor Show? The rear centre armrest comes with champagne flutes, which is nothing special for RR and Maybach but the centre tunnel even comes with a teaset and heated stove to boil your tea. Now how cool is that!

No you actually got it right the first time, I really meant that you could just rebody a modern vehicle to look like a vintage car.

Having taken more than a few rides in my neighbour's vintage Morris Mini, I must say that his car appeals to me precisely because everything is old. The unique sound of the carburettor engine and the fact that many of the car's parts failed to function more often than not gave it quite alot of character. I remember attempting to wind his windows up because it started raining only to have the entire handle come off in my hand because the screws had come loose. This was further complicated by the fact that the car stalled after he turned the aftermarket aircon on because his engine could not quite generate enough power to run both the air con and spin the wheels. While I understand that this may be quite a pain to live with (and he used the car as his daily driver), if you're only going to drive it for 28 days in a year, why not just drive something as close to the original as possible to enjoy a more "authentic" experience?

And should Dan be wearing a mini + lipstick while saying that? Too bad I can't photoshop or I'll have sexy Dan's pics online! Now that would stop traffic.
