Guy, I'm torn between an S3 or S1 & even the XK150 for similar price.

You're an owner so best to advice us here. How does the steering feel since it's longer & power steering as compared to the now more favoured S1/2? I'm not going to race it, it's a showcar to drive & cruise around which I may even take for long drives up north. The XK looks even more beautiful but very spartant on the cabin. Also, between the open top & coupe. The difference is about 10K pounds & I would love the roadster over coupe since it's going to hurt one time though the coupe is an easier car for maintenance.

    Thanks!

Really? Time flies huh, rem you had a 550/75 in Tokyo before as well. I've looked up on prices in UK & seems that between the two, the prices are about the same @ GBP49K+/- & of course varies on maintenance records etc. Which means the body value for this car is only a paltry S$70-80K & the remains on paper value (parf+coe). I would look into this if it's a manual unit :)

Last year was a dark time for exotics in UK, a 550 was sold for abt 30Kpds (no svc records) in a local auction for dealers, 360s & Bentley GTs were a steal too.

Oh Derek, do u regret not buying it then? Here's a chance again.

must say price doesnt look too bad tho i think 575 without the handling pack or fiorano pack is supposedly a bit soft. i test drove 1 a few months back but that was i think 05 car with retrofitted handling bits. 350k for 3 years use on a v12 fcar with 250+ omv cant be too bad. body value only 70-80k sounds historically low. what would yearly depre work out to ?

Pardon me, I meant $150k+/- but @ 50K it's possible for a project car which may not be worth it. I realised that local Testas are all but in collector hands now?

My maths is poor but is that on 110% now or 100%? Can always give Marcus a call. The balance would be the remaining COE + body. Getting a loan will be a problem for this car so it'll be a lot of cash up front. Wealthy & new buyers will choose a 599, poor folk like me can only suck thumb looking @ it :(

Regarding the suspension, if you're willing to forgo the electronics, I'm sure Bilstein, KW etc can set it up very nicely. Then slap on some sway bars etc. The F575 was raced by many teams so there must be some serious racing parts left over to tune up road cars for good.

Someone should buy this & do a re-sale red :D

Can someone please pull the trigger? This is not bad. Would u consider one in your birth year? I like the XK150 as well & it's about the same money.

I'm quite tempted to go UK but time's not on my side. Was thinking to swing over en-route to Basel but me guess will need a week in UK to see & test.

I think this is a good car to start & ARF will be low as well

Needs a new trim which our boys can do but cleaning & perhaps an engine out job.

Talking about cheap old cars, there's a Merc 190E 2.5-16 (Or 2.3, I'm not sure) Cossie for 3000+ quid in the UK. Cars there are seriously cheap. Or maybe its the cars here that are incredibly expensive.

Why not? Quite a few of us have them @ some point in time.

I'm even considering the 60's S280SE coupe or cabrio.

Yes they are currently offering it to owners only, but planning to sell to public in the near future. It's basically a more exclusive and luxurious version of the Toyota iQ and it is priced at about 20k pounds, which translates into almost 120k sgd!

Astons were one of the most beautiful cars money could buy..until this came along..

    OK here goes...summarized from LTA
    Its a maths puzzle:

If car is registered after May 2002
Not exceeding 5 years 75% of ARF paid
    > 5 years < 6 years 70% of ARF paid
    > 6 years < 7 years 65% of ARF paid
    > 7 years < 8 years 60% of ARF paid
    > 8 years < 9 years 55% of ARF paid
    > 9 years <10 years 50% of ARF paid
    Above 10 years Zero rebate.

For cars registered with COEs obtained from March 2008 tender exercise and onwards, the Additional Registration Fee (ARF) is 100% of Open Market Value (OMV). For cars registered with COEs obtained from March 2004 to February 2008 tender exercises, the ARF is 110% of OMV. For cars registered with COEs obtained from May 2002 to February 2004, the ARF is 130% of OMV. For cars registered with COEs obtained before May 2002, the ARF is 140% of OMV.

Current value of the car = (130% x 250k x 60%) + residual COE (say 10K) + Body of car (say 60k) = 265k. Which means if we scrap it today, the value of the car = $265k. So we should be offering around 265k for the car.

    I stand corrected.

I think the 500 would cost around 110k on the road in Spore.
