I like Carl Edwards, but this was a bulls**t move that could have gotten a lot of people hurt. I have a feeling that NASCAR is going to go hard on him.

Edwards takes out Keselowski at Atlanta.

should have waited a few weeks until Bristol.

I like Edwards too, but that was a stupid move particularly at one of NASCAR's fastest tracks. The combination of fines/points/suspension will be interesting on this one.

He was interviewed before he "went into the trailer"/ "got sent to the principals office", and he looked skeered!

So much for Edwards' squeaky clean, Mr. Nice Guy
    image.

Now that he's admitted he did it on purpose, he's caught
up in NASCAR's policy of "more manufactured drama", he
will now have to show up in either full Nazi, Soviet or
even better Middle Eastern terrorist uniform, driving
an all black car, flipping everyone the bird, screaming at
his punk rivals that they're going to settle things the street.

The "manufactured drama" will reach such a crescendo
that things will only be settled in a pay-per-view steel
cage battle royale extravaganza, $44.95. Contact your
    satellite or cable provider today!

man...it just seems like yesterday when cole and rowdy had to have dinner together to get their wrists slapped by the nascar don.

i seem to recall they raced each other to resturaunt in their rental cars...they sure used up both those rentals. :)

I recall Richard Petty saying "The only thing that was right about that movie is that there were numbers on the cars".

I like NASCAR's monthly aerodynamic changes. Well golly, let's put a flap here. No, No. It might make them go sideways. No it won't because this new wing will keep it planted. But it might make the car fly if it went backwards. Who cares? That's exciting.

The COT was created to keep the death toll down

Ran across the show with 8 laps remaining and decided
    to see it through.

No sooner did the words, "Lets see how they cock this
up" escape than, sure enough this intentional incident
    happened.

What's with these guys anyway? Can they not finish
a the last 20 laps of any race without all this "manufactured
    drama"?

What was interesting (if it may be called that) was Waltrip's
comment, "I can't wait til they get spoilers back on the cars"
(SIC) as if having the wings on these supposed "Cars of
Tomorrow" had something to do with the car taking off
    and flipping over.

If these cars were designed and engineered to have the
wing, won't removing it in favor of the old spoiler completely
change the dynamics of the what intentions of these COTs
    were in the first place?

NASCAR seems to be racing's version of the Bizarro World.
Dosent matter who wins, that's not what the shill's talking
points will be this week. It only matters who done wrecked
who and who's gunna to get revenge next week.

Exactly right. And, with manufacturers threatening
pull out over the COT or concerns over branding
budgets, contrived controversey is exactly what they
want (need) to keep NASCAR in the headlines.

When the product is weak, create endless controveresy
and hype to keep the masses tuned in.

    Shameless.

I agree that the culprit in the car turning over was that stupid rear wing, and I'm glad that that's going away. But Carl clearly hit Keselowski on purpose, and he's developing the reputation of "nice guy -- dirty driver", which I don't think that either Jack Roush or his sponsors will appreciate. (Maybe he though that Keselowski was the AFLAC duck?)

Then, again, the newest book on NASCAR racing, about the 1979 season, is entitled "He Crashed Me, So I Crashed Him Back". So what else is new?

Funny how everything you guys say about nascar can also be directly compared to F1 as far as major rule changes and personality differences go, except in F1 the personality differences are with the owners and officials, not the drivers so much.

yeah, that rear wing acts as a parachute when going backwards. lifts the back end up alot.

Why don't they have mustang/camaro/challenger makes instead of fusion/impala/charger? Not that it matters, but it would be something better at least.

Junior series does have those at some point this/next year. Of course, they have nothing to do with the real cars.

Not only that, but the Fusion is (supposedly) Ford's "mid-size" car (the Taurus is the full-size), but the Impala and the Charger are those make's "full-size" cars! They should be running Malibus and Stratuses against the Fusion.

I thought it "wuz jiss wunna they-um raycin dee-uhlz."

NASCAR is losing it. They're finding out that nobody really likes spec-car racing. F1 will eventually figure that out, I hope.

Funny you should ask as articles on Auto Extremist are
pointing out, manufactures are indicating this is exactly
what they want, a return to a silhouette formula featuring
cars which are relevant to those on the showroom floors.

Interesting related quote: "NASCAR just puts us in this box,
and we'll race like this until we kill somebody." - Carl Edwards

If NASCAR doesn't severly discipline Edwards, how will they discipline the next idiot who pulls this crap? Pretty pathetic that NASCAR condones carnage to keep the sideshow interesting....

Well, as much as I think Keselowski brings it upon himself, especially when he tangles with Carl Edwards, I can't believe that NASCAR only put Carl on a 3 race probation. They should have benched both of them for two races so the drivers learn the difference between driving to race versus driving to crash someone out. If a car or debris gets into the stands and kills someone, NASCAR will see lawsuits like never before for knowingly permitting, almost fostering, an environment that is inherently dangerous to the spectators in the stands. Then we'll see a level of involvement from the Federal government to regulate auto racing like never before.

The releases that the drivers, team members and owners sign is not effective for intentional behavior. Edwards should get his license pulled for the year, but I don't think it's going to happen. Can you imagine what the consequences would have been had the car gone over the fence, into the spectators. The France family would be paupers after that instance, I suspect. If they don't punish him, and get his attention, and he does it again, and anyone, even a driver gets hurt, watch for major fireworks.

Accidents happen on the racetrack. Intentional crashes are the equivalent of attempted murder, given the speeds, etc. Edwards might want to think about that, had the other driver been killed or injured, Carl would need a lot of Vaseline.....

Let's emasculate racing drivers! I mean, who's left, anyway?
