Wow a C32....always wanted to try that too while I was in UK.... Maybe we should have an all saloon car drive......
Alright boys, for the record. I've spoken to the people @ the counter & have some document with me. I'm even prepared to register a trade plate or we can pool together & start a company for fun/trade. The trade plate is useful for test-drive & sending to+from workshops. Get a fleet insurance but no night driving. I might even be looking @ classic bikes but it has to be pre 1940 which not a lot of good ones tug my heart. On the classic car, 100% tax is mandatory. It is based on the OMV which is determined by the customs, not LTA. The OMV is the car body price+freight & insurance or any incidental costs due to this purchase with the invoice. I was told that the ARF has a rebate upon de-reg in case you'd want to export the car within 10yrs. There's also the vintage car scheme for anything built before 1940. There are however two other ways to save a lot of money if you want the car to be kept @ home, warehouse or workshop. Please PM me for more information. I might even have to draft out a format for all to use once & for all. To keep in Malaysia. They do have a classic scheme & limited to just 20yrs & above. However! The AP which is like our OMV to register it is given to only one person & you need to sign off everything to him to register it for you. Which means you don't own it till he release it to you. Otherwise, if anybody wants to import anything less than 5yrs old. Please let me know. Last I checked, for a used Lp640, I'll be charged about RM300K to have it registered & you can even finance it The duties varies for makes but it must be less than 5yrs old upon import.
Ferrari will offer hybrid versions of every model by 2013, says the supercar maker http://greenopolis.com/goblog/jerryjamesstone/ferrari-will-offer-hybrid-versions-every-model-2013-says-supercar-maker

I'm sure people bemoaned the transition from steam engines to carbs to direct fuel injection, why don't you think of it as natural technological progression? I think it's totally fine as long as Ferraris and other supercars do not lose the signature roar of their engines.

No prob. Let me know but I'll be out of town this week & u've got my email. I'm leaning towards keeping it @ home & paying minimum taxes. It'll be sad not to use it but I'm hedging it as an investment.
Thanks Jon for the info. On my part, the UK dealer is already scouting around for decent examples of various makes (not concours as prices are not worth it since we are using the cars). I should have the info by end next week. As for MP's suggestion, I'm all for it. Let's have a classic car freaks meet up when I can disseminate the UK car info to you guys. So in keeping with the theme, me and Tim should show up in the 308 and Mondi. I'll drag my dad along who can provide advice on maintenance + let me hunt for old family photos of the cars that graced our place including the very 1st Miura and F 330 in S'pore that came straight from the port. Also pics of the E-types and Astons should be somewhere in the house. And now I recall that there was a maroon DB2 in S'pore as well. Was at my dad's place when I was young and I was asking him about that car then. Passion sure runs in the family!
good choice!!! loved the c63 and would still have it if someone hadn't made me a great offer (plus i was itchy as well). still got the 63 engine though and it's a vast improvement over the 55. enjoy in good health.
Most welcomed. There's Dr Billy who gave great wealth of info as well as he's imported several cars including a 356 cabriolet which he did the body work & cabin locally. He told me that it's ideal to find a working one that's complete to keep the invoice low. Then, restore it here as we can supervise it personally. Customs tax us based on invoice & they'll have their own figures that we don't contest. LTA do not bother about it, they take the OMV based on the customs & won't see your car. So, unless you want to pay duty for the restoration job from UK then buy a semi rust bucket Just like speccing a F458 Your dad will be a gem. Heck, when my place is ready, if ever. I'll make it my weekend workshop & have him over to listen to carbs Well, the oldest car I have will be the 964 to show up. I don't think I'll be back by 21st but I can try. Otherwise, we can always meet up these few nights for teh tarek. I did a few rounds in Sin Ming today & saw a couple of interesting old cars including several R107SLs (one which was mine before) 190SL, Jaguar Mk2 on regular plate & a few Rolls + Austin etc. My mechanic told me that he saw a lot of old cars & bikes in Sri Lanka & I offered to take a trip there to see those barn finds. This will be like treasure hunt!
U hairdresser? btw we are going to miss you at the FOCS event... you still have time to change your mind.
