Then they were likely repainted as well ... From what Carbon knows the only Enzo with "factory painted" red calipers is Jean Todt's car. The rest of us have repainted them. I'm sure you're right that there are at least two others (if not more) that have redone theirs in red and the TDF blue car has had his redone in yellow.
If these pics show Schumacher's Enzo as has been claimed several times, then it too has red calipers. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168352 >8^) ER
Much ado about brake calipers here... I will typically defer to the true 'Enzo experts' on most things, but I certainly believe they are different cars. The first picture below happens to be the very first file in my "Blue Enzo" folder, and it has been on my computer since December 8th, 2003. I believe I got it from FChat as it's 640x480 resolution used to be the maximum allowed here. You can just barely see the yellow caliper in that shot. I am reposting it for clarity of statement. The second picture being referenced as an earlier shot of that car showing black calipers has been on my computer since April 16th, 2004. More telling, the EXIF details show it as having been taken the very same day so it could not possibly be the same car at an earlier point in its life. The third photo, again with the yellow calipers has been with me since November 10th, 2005, but EXIF detail shows it was taken October 5th, 2005. Maybe it is the same car as image #2, now having been updated with yellow calipers, but very unlikely to be the same Enzo as image #1. Again, I'm no expert, but the first one looks Pozzi Blue and the other appears to be a different, more vibrant shade - perhaps TDF Blue? >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
All three of those pictures are of the same car - the Rothschild Enzo, 128788. There are four Enzos (that I know of) with colored calipers. The Rothschild Enzo, Jeffrey's Enzo, a yellow Enzo with yellow calipers (last seen in Australia), and Jean Todt's red Enzo (with gun metal wheels and red calipers). To my knowledge, Todt's is the only Enzo whose calipers were painted by the factory. Interestingly enough, that also makes for four different colored Enzos with colored calipers (i.e., there aren't two red Enzos with colored calipers; just one red, one yellow, one blue and one black).
Yay - an expert. I still have questions... See the photo below that matches up with the location of image #2 above - the one with the black calipers - there's no front plate on this car? For sure it's the same car? I don't play the serial number game with Enzos - far too complicated - but those two pics were definitely taken in the middle of that span of time, and for the calipers to be a different color, and the front plate to have come and gone and then returned seems a little odd to this casual observer. So the car attributed several times here to "Michael Schumacher" shown via my link on the previous page was really Todt's all along? Now when you come back and say "yes" and "yes" to those two questions, you'll have your answer as to why I don't bother keeping track of Enzos. Thanks Carbon! And sorry to Jeffrey for the wild tangent this has now become. >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am far from an expert! If I were an expert, none of this stuff would be 'to my knowledge', I'd be able to post confidently as fact. Unfortunately, until all of the information is made available (never?), it will always be conjecture and educated guesses. To my knowledge, there are only two Blu Tour de France Enzos - the aforementioned Rothschild Enzo, and a matte Titanio Enzo that was repainted (in '08) to look virtually identical to the Rothschild Enzo. Yes - rumored to be Schumacher's Enzo, the red Enzo with gun metal wheels and red calipers has been with Todt since new.
Well, what do you know? Correct. Carbon, what about the red Enzo with red calipers that was seen in UK in March 2007? See attached pictures. This is the same information that I have. Does Schumacher own, or has he ever owned, an Enzo? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
For most people the discussion of caliper colors (where, what, who) would be akin to watching grass grow. I agree with you - does it really matter where the calipers were painted? Mine were painted by Dave at Premier which undoubtedly makes them "better than factory original" anyway! Of course the pursits and enthusiasts would make a substantial deal out of "factory" versus "aftermarket" painted regardless of who did the work. At the end of the day - it just doesn't matter and almost no one (short of the extreme enthusiasts) are going to comment on the color of the calipers. When it comes down to it - I think it's just casual observation and banter that doesn't have anything to do with the price of tea in China but is nevertheless interesting. It's one way of identifying the cars in various photos and infinitely easier to track them (if that's what you enjoy doing) from time to time and location to location. I'm just glad I'm not alone when it comes to not being so finicky about "leaving it stock" and not adding some touches of individualty to the car!
Hand operated front brakes? Old school! I hated those hand operated front brakes! My Tag kart is set up with the front brakes off their shifter karts. Sodi has some seriously sick innovative components of which the brakes system is one of them. It's just much easier to "dial in" the bias and use foot (versus hand) pressure to brake. I just couldn't get use to it.
The Enzo on the 2nd picture is not the one from Rothschild. It has confirmed Monaco plates and a different interior! Furthermore, look at Eriks 'timeline'. It would be rather weird if Rothschild painted the calipers on his Enzo black for a mere two events in Italy back in 2004...
Wang Enzo had yellow calipers straight from factory. It was the one being delivered at the Tour Auto start in 2005 i think ( or 2004 )
Hi, Bjoern. How are you? I hope all is well. Erik is a very knowledgeable guy, and he's as meticulous about McLaren F1s as we are about Enzos and other Ferraris. But the timeline of pictures that have been posted on the Internet doesn't necessarily reflect the actual chronological timeline during which they were taken. To my knowledge, there are only two Blu Tour de France Enzos: 128788 (Rothschild) and 136085 (Matte Titanio then repainted TdF). Other blue Enzos in the world include Kalikow's Pozzi Enzo (134959) and Brandon Wang's Grigio Alloy Enzo (138879). The interior of a car, as interpreted through the windshield in photographs, is sketchy at best. If you know of a third TdF Enzo, I'd love to know about it. But as far as I know, Rothschild's Enzo was the only TdF Enzo in the world until the Matte Titanio Enzo was repainted. Do you know the Monegasque plates on the third TdF Enzo?
No clue about that one, sorry. I think he does, but I'm not sure. I know he has one - maybe two - FXXes. I don't know what to say about those... Andrew, I have plenty of pictures of Wang's Grigio Alloy Enzo with black calipers.
Old school, really? I've been around karting seriously for the past 6 years or so and thought that the KF style karts with the foot rear brake and hand fronts were a new thing... I guess I learn something new everyday I just bought an ICA motor to throw on a chassis just for fun and have been looking in to the hand op front brakes But I will totally agree that Sodi is one of the best marques for innovation! Love their "screw adjust" brake shimming and bolt'less sproket carriers!
