Okay, I work with a guy that's OCD (known him for about 3 years). Won't eat food if it's catered, unless he's the first one in line, etc etc.

Today he wanted to try a Fruit Roll-Up I've been sharing with co-workers because he had never had one. I walk over to see what he thinks, he says, "Oh I touched it". And he threw it in the trash!!! I think he's officially lost it at this point. All the other stuff is, weird enough, but he can't eat something because he touched it.....crazy.

Do you know anyone who's borderline psychotic with OCD?

I have OCD but I'm not as bad as that guy. It started when I was real young with me having to do things, or touch things in only even numbers.

I can not drink a drink unless I have the first taste. If my GF takes a sip of drink I either give it to her or throw it away. If I do something with my right hand or foot I must do it with the left. If something touches one side of me I have to make sure it touches the other side.

My freshman year in college, my roommate was OCD. He just had to have everything cleaned, so our room was always clean. I loved it :D

He isn't OCD per say, we just teased me and called him OCD. He even organized his clothes by color, first male I've seen that does that. So, he was probably anal about it :D

My wife thinks I have OCD because I don't like a dirty or dusty house, and I get upset when the housekeepers scratch a very expensive piece of furniture. I don't think it's OCD, I just never wanted to be like a typical guy and live in a dirty house.

I am extremely OCD about certain things.

I cant eat if anyone within my sight is barefoot.

I feel intense urges to count ceiling (or other) tiles.

I have a weird ritual where I have to slap my thigh a certain number of times when i am feeling anxious.

I shake my steering wheel when sitting at stoplights.

    I could go on...

My GF has it. She does some pretty odd things at times (more then just odd GF things). Her doctor gives her some perscription drugs to help control it.

I thought it didn't really exist until I met her. Trust me, it exists. She fights it all the time. It's no fun.

I wanted to add that this was pretty bad with light switches. If the lights were off and I turned them on, then I needed to switch them back off so it would be an even number, but then I was in the dark again. I was able to kick that one for the most part but if it gets in my mind then I will revert back to it for a short time.

Guys, can we just get clear that just because you like a tidy house does not mean you have OCD.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is quite serious if not looked after properly. IMO if you're not taking medication, or seeing a doctor about it, or if its not affecting your function, please don't say you have it.

Don't mean to come off on a bad note, but it bugs me when people who are perfectly functional claim to have serious mental issues. Rant over.

Ms. REMIX does this...she's a diagnosed OCD sufferer. Things have to go back into cabinets a certain way, she has to position the computer mouse a certain way on the screen before turning it off, the lightswitch touching and counting...etc. She used to be really bad but now it seems somewhat under control.

That sounds like my GF, in addition to some things Jerry said he does. We were in a restaraunt a few weeks ago and she kept lifting up her glass of coke and looking at the bottom. I'm used to not asking why.

I apologize for using the term psychotic as a describtion. I didn't mean it in an offensive way, just more descrbing people who may know others (or themselves) that have a very tough, true case of OCD. I'm sorry for that.

Oh we all have some case of OCD, one way or another. I'm an OCD with overthinking.

It is (can be) serious, that's why I brought it up. My coworker admits to being picky, but some other things myself and others have witnessed him doing around the office, and he's discussed about things he does at home he needs help I think. He is highly germaphobic. I've know a few people like that, but none as ecentric as he is.

I'm also OCD when it comes to using napkins. You can always tell where I sat at a table because I have 10x the napkins as everyone else. No one is perfectly functional, and that was not my intention with this thread. I thought it would bring about some interesting thoughts and discussions out of it to show we're all a little crazy.;):D

I don't think you can be "OCD" about "something" - like napkins. For some reason you like to use 10 napkins - but I doubt that qualifies as you having OCD.

Over the past few years I've seen people describe themselves as "OCD about...". Probably a bad choice of words.

I was pretty much controlled by OCD as a youth. I would always walk in a certain (building opposite binary system) pattern. I could not eat many things. My whole world was based on mathematics of some sort. Always checking for binary patterns and solutions. If someone said the number 67 I immediately thought of it as 64 plus 2 plus 1. I never understood the way teachers taught math, but I always got the right answer! Eventually most of it went away when I was around 15 or so. It is a real pain looking back.
I still entertain myself with math challenges when I am bored.

A guy at work here has OCD. He has to set his locker combination lock to 11 whenever he closes it. My little pleasure everyday is to spin it to something else! ;) Whenever he turns in paperwork, he taps the counter 3 times before he throws it in the tray too.
