is the Speed Channel the only option for USA viewers? Searched threads and did not find anything. Thank you.

As far as broadcast TV, yes Speed is the only provider in the US. However, during race weekends, there are threads on here that follow the action live; links to other broadcasts via live streaming video are posted on those threads very often. If your interested, you may want to look at some of those threads from last year to see an example. The links change sometimes (probably due to copyright issues,) so it's best just to pop-in those threads starting in March.

Fox will also cover some races during the season. These usually have a much shorter pre- and post-race show (if anything). I can't remember exactly which races they aired last year, but there's typically three or four shown. It's like F1 Lite on Fox.

I watched two or three races that were shown on the BBC last year and those were great. I'd recommend checking them out.

Direct TV has the "Hot Pass" for NASCAR with extensive behind the scenes footage and hours of pre and post race coverage. Wish we had something similar for F1.

It's my understanding that there was a European broadcaster who USED to offer such a channel for F1. I agree with you, that would be fantastic.

yup, whenever there's a conflict with NASCAR. (seriously)

we could, but FOM won't allow it.

Personally I refuse to watch F1 on Speed or Fox. I'm willing to wait a few extra hours and avoid online discussions so I can download the BBC coverage via a torrent site. I remember the days when we were lucky to get the Monaco and US GP's in tape delay on ABC's Wide World Of Sports, so I'm not concerned with getting to watch F1 live. Quality commentators are worth the delay.

In addition BBC's pre-qualy and pre-race shows are a sh!tload better than Speed's. Also no commercials with the torrents either. Only drawback is that the commentary team is (and understandably so) typically McL/Hamilton biased.

Another option for live BBC coverage is with using the app Filmon. I've used it but found it can be choppy at times since it is a stream.

I use filmon for all the races and have no problems with it - if you wait too late to log on it will say busy.....far better announcers/interviews/NO COMMERCIALS. It's BBC1 (also watch racing on Eurosport on filmon). Some folks use justintv but the BBC cuts it off eventually. I often run multiple laptops during races. I am not one of those who waits for results - I want to know what's happening right now.

I use Filmon too, but some races were extremely laggy even if I logged in 6 hrs in advance. In such cases, I just wait and dl from racing-underground. BBC coverage rocks!

Yeah, see I keep hearing things like this with any streaming service, whether it is Justintv, or any of the various streaming programs. I would pitch a royal fit if I got halfway through a race and the stream dropped out or it started lagging. I'm patient enough, and passionate enough about F1, that having the best coverage possible is what matters. Frankly, that's The BBC.

It never happens in the middle of a race with Filmon. If it's laggy, it starts during pre-race. Sometimes switching to the low-res BBC feed works. It's not a huge deal to me since racing-underground is there, but watching with live-timing is so much better.

Either way, hard to complain when such good quality as Filmon is free.

Yeah, I just use RacingUnderground. That way I can keep the races too... watching the 2001 USGP as I type actually...

    Carol,

I used Filmon for most of last season without a problem, but I recently fired it up for a test run and I'm now getting every channel scrambled! I even updated to the newest version and still get the same problem. Are you having any trouble getting BBC and other channels?

    vinuneuro or ApexOversteer,

Any idea how I can obtain an invitation code for racing-underground?

You're only given two when you get in. I've already used mine up, but I'll check with those two guys if they have either of their remaining.

I also used mine up, I only got one, because I was already a member when they went invite-only and only had a positive GB difference of 25GB. Now that they've abolished GB differences, I wonder how they will give out invites now.

Are the GB differences gone permanently? Because over the last couple months I watched the 09 BTCC season and am at -25gb now! No one to seed to since it's been long over.

Yeah, GB differences are gone for good. Severe leechers will be punished, but as long as you give something back to the community you're good to go. You can still see your own stats, and so can admins. I'm not worried even though my GB difference is over -100 at the moment.

I'll get positive again, once the racing season gets going, probably into the plus by June...

Good morning - I'm using it right now on the desktop computer and "Cash in the Attic" is on BBC1 and there's an interview taking place on Itv1. Rai did come up scrambled. So for me, so far so good! I know I can't run it on but one computer at a time. I've not checked to see what the subscription cost might be, but if it's nominal, it would be worth it. (I have in the past totally removed the program from the computer and started from scratch.)

... Not my field of expertise. I don't know how it's done. I haven't made a point trying to figure out how they do it. Better than having it on good authority (e.g., wouldn't have believed it, not seeing it for myself), if you have satellite television -- not the winkie, fake Direct-TV thing, but real satellite television -- there is a way to dial-in; get F1's direct feed.

    It is so much better.

Anyone out there fed-up, sick and tired of "Speed Channel's" monopoly on F1 in America, you are not the Lone Ranger. I don't know where in the television handbook for idiots where it says every motion picture with a Roman Empire theme, and every waking second of every F1 broadcast, must be accompanied with non-stop British accents.

If I could find a way of dubbing out Machett, Hobbs and Varsha, just be able to watch the thing, no commentary, I'd be happy with just that.

    Regards,
    - Samuel

Does you TV have a "mute" button? Seems like that would resolve your issue.

I'd like to hook up with the BBC one, if anyone has an address. Wouldn't work for asjoseph, 'cause they are all british accents, but they definitely have better coverage.
