FA was the first to congratulate LH when they pulled into Parc Ferme. He congratulated FM and immediately ran around his car to do the same to LH.

Hey, it's called RACING. Sh*t happens and someone takes advantage of someone else's misfortune. I would say that FA is, and always has been one of, if not the best RACER in F1, no matter what one may think of him personally. Besides, he was the first to say that it's only one race and he wasn't making any undue claims in his interview. Cut the man some slack!

WOW!! I was merely commenting on that race, not Alonso's past or himself. I think RB deserved that race more than Ferrari did thats all. Calm down.

If I am not mistaken, Schuey had the fastest lap of the two mercedes, as well as fastest sector speeds. Give 'em a few races to work out the kinks. All in all, spot on though.

Totally agree about Vettel. He got hosed.

Nice result, but Vettel was faster, Hamilton is closer than it looks and we still have reliabilty problems: both engines had to be changed before the race an Massa almost ran out of fuel (again!!). It´s gonna be a though season.

impressive tho Massa said he was conserving fuel and machinery on the last few laps (where FA did his FLAP).

Sutil had the second FLAP of the race btw (last lap).

Well, like i expected that new rules didn't help anything, and might have been even worse.

Now everybody is just driving to save tyres, and i don't even mention the 8 engines for 18races...

It's F1 damn it and we're hearing teamradios saying:

"Wait, Alonso is gonna burn his tyres so don't need to push"

or "Don't push it, we are saving the engine for next races"

    how pathetic is that?

SV had some bad luck today, anyone with half-a-heart has got to feel for him, but as someone else said, "that's racing". How many times have mechanical problems cost Ferrari a race? It happens to the best of them.

After all is said and done, it's still interesting that the "great 8" from the 4 top teams finished first thru eighth. The rest of the field will be glad that they now give points for ninth and tenth!

And if Vettel's exhaust break was a result of the car design, then it looks like RBR has some re-thinking to do. But for now, all I can say to the Scuderia is "molto bene!"

I'm a little confused. Why is it that a team can change an engine ot without penalty between qualifying and racing?

Each car is alloted 8 engines per season for practice, qualifying, and race conditions. Only after they exceed those 8 engines is a penalty incurred. The engines they removed from the cars can be used in future practice, qualifying, and race sessions, along with their Bahrain race engines.

Interesting insight. The strategy adapts to the rules. Well done to all today. Clean race with Vettel suffering major disappointment. FA lives the dream and Felipe is happy to be alive and racing again. Should be an interesting season. I do think Red Bull is the fastest overall. Passing still seems to be a chore though!

"Economy measure". Instead of one engine for every two races, they have eight engines to last 19 races. They can use all eight in the first three weekends without penalty.

The minute they have to go to a ninth engine --- penalty.

Ferrari is figuring they can overhaul the first two engines (within the limits of the rules) and use them again -- at least for practice.
An engine that grenades on track is probably done for the season.

Good to see the red cars up front again.

The rest of the season will be interesting. We already knew that Alonso would willingly risk taking out a teammate for even two points.
But with enough points to matter between positions, now, we might get to see if Massa will really push a pass for position (particularly on a car *not* his teammate).
Especially as everyone has to preserve tires, fuel, and engines.

I wonder if Massa lost something in translation about saving the engine, or whether he really was having a fuel problem. Did he start light on fuel?

    Passing should be difficult.
I haven't checked the stats but there seemed to be more passing today than in the past.

Congrats to Ferrari (still not thrilled that Alonso won though; lol)
The Kaiser drove a very solid race ( the Merc is definitely not the Brawn car of 2009).
But what a boring race. I'm not sure if it's the track, the cars, the new rules or just all of the above.
We're lucky Vettel had a problem; otherwise it would have been an epic snoozer..
