Yes, agree with u. The Italians came in after the war & performance/looks etc were @ their peak in 60-70s. For the pre 1940s, the only ones that attract me are the Merc 380/540Ks or open top tourers, Delahaye, Hispano Suiza, Duesenberg, Bugatti etc but they are so valuable that I can probably only admire them in magazines or museums. Even Jaguar SSKs are a lot of money. I enquired on two Bentley LeMans & they are over 200K pds. To buy one, I'll have to be riding my scooter as a daily Oh so those cars belong to him & what is a pilot interviewing a guy about his car collection, for a magazine?
After going in Lung's Scud, I think the performance bit is here and still coming although at a slower rate. And when I go through the specs of the older F cars, the 308 seemed a bit slow and under powered even in the late 70s, not to mention the mid 80s. I cannot imagine cars accelerating much faster from here on. Atom and that 16cylinder VW excepted. My dad's deceased friend had an SS100 which he sent to his home in Perth. Same guy with the DB6 which the wife sold for a pittance. Will dig all these old photos and show you one day. Shall we fix the classic car freaks gathering on the 4thApril? Wee Hann and Tim are ok. Lung, MP, Des?
Here's a nice aerial shot taken by the hotel staff, from some neighbouring building. Image Unavailable, Please Login
ok, so I got a message off IA whilst I was flying and they claim that my brake pads need replacing .. no big deal right .. except that they changed them last Thursday before the Sepang/KL trip! Does anyone else think that is a little odd?
Not really. On all my mid engine cars that are driven hard. I have had to replace 2 sets of rears for every set of fronts. Esp for the lotus, it was very very regular. Every 2 trackdays = new rear pads. I am curious. Are they referring to the "caliper" or the "handbrake" ones. I think the F car has seperate 4 pot for braking and single pot for the H/Brake right? Ask them that.
It was a fantastic trip! We had lots of fun, great drives and food! Thanks to all who is involved in planning this trip!
The hotel service was really good! They prepared everything very well and even went into every single detail e.g. putting our logo on the doors. They definately deserve your letter!
I recently tried some american kobe. I liked the meatier flavour compared to the richness of Aussie Wagyu 8-9. The Kobe was more ex though at 200/kg
That does sound a little OTT. How many rounds did u do that weekend? If this goes on, makes more sense to upgrade to CCB & buy them off UK now!
You must have worked them extremely hard if they need to be replaced so soon. Could it be a mix up, ie. message delivered to wrong owner?
