...what do you guys recommend doing?? :) I should be here for two or four weeks!
Depending on what part of Tampa you're in, you can go to cars and coffee this Saturday morning. Other than that, Tampa sucks, that's why I go to school in Orlando. But I will be in town for the weekend for C&C so let me know if you're interested!
The 12 hour race is in Sebring this weekend. It's about a 1.5 hour drive. Several So. Florida F-chatters will be there.
I'm going to Brunton Automotive to do a write up and test ride in the Superstalker tomorrow at around 11. They are at: 4523 30th St. W. Bradenton, FL 34207 You are welcome to meet me there, and we can grab some lunch after the shop visit. If you get lost on the way you can call Dennis Brunton for directions at nine four one, four four eight, seven three one nine. If you want to just meet me for lunch call me on the cell phone at five six one, three three nine, five nine three nine. BT
One of my closest friends lives in Brandon. You're close to Busch Gardens and the Hard Rock Casino. Channelside has fun restaurants and bars and the International Plaza Mall is pretty nice. If you need any recommendations for places in Brandon, feel free to ask. I'm there all the time.
Plenty to do in Tampa. The International Plaza area is nice. Lots to do there, it is near the airport. Anytime I am in Tampa I generally stay in that area. Ybor City is touristy but cool, you can go there for Cuban coffee, food and cigars. A couple of Tampa dining institutions are Brocato's Sandwich Shop (hard to find but good) and Lee Roy Selmon's. Drive over the bridge to St. Pete and watch the sunset from one of the bars along the beach.
Channelside used to be fun but I was up there a few weeks ago and it looked like the economy had taken its toll. Lots of vacant businesses there now.
You might want to double check these dates... but plenty to do in the next few weeks. Cars and Coffee in Largo at DuPont publishing headquarters- March 20th 7-9am Indy Car race in St Pete the weekend of March 27th Festival of Speed in St Pete the weekend of April 10th Make a Wish car show in Orlando across from Disney at Celebration April 17th
Tampa has some great beaches nearby. Spend your hours smoking cigars & sipping mojitos on Clearwater. Orlando has... nothing (other than Corona CIgar Co).
Orlando has anything you could possibly want besides a beach (45min away), and mountains. We have the college area (UCF), the theme parks, premium outlets, F dealer, L dealer, great restaurants, tons of girls....etc. We don't, however, have a Hockey team, we have the magic, but who likes basketball anyway The only things Tampa has over Orlando is my Family, Friends, the beach, and Lightning.
Did "they" send you for the big Air Show this weekend at MacDill Air Force Base. During the big base closings some years back, I'm convinced that the main reason "they" kept MacDill open, was because the golf course is so nice Those Generals need to have something to do on their day off.
