Sebring---- This weekend, 12-hour race........

I looked into it quite a bit, but the only hotels that aren't completely booked are roach motels. I'll do a little more research and let you know if something changes, but I think I may go to Hilton Head, SC instead...

 

I'm on kid sitting duty this weekend, but I will be going through Sebring Friday on my way back from Brunton Automotive. I'm doing a write up of the Stalker / Super Stalker for an online magazine. I'm supposed to pick up the new trailer in Sebring on the return leg. Can't wait!

Forget the hotels!

You have to park in the infield and sleep/pass out in your car or tent to get the true Sebring experience.

This will be the first year I'm going to miss it and I'm really bummed.

 

Have to miss it Hubbys high school reunion beat out Sebring...

we are leaving at 8am ish... Friday morning - contrary to popular belief there are rooms in Sebring and surrounding area - Fred has dug up a few for us right in Sebring.

The minimums are coming off and the hoteliers are panicking as they didnt sell out for the race - lots of cancellations and repricing - now is the time to book - weather looks great and its going to be a great weekend - dust off that old firesuit and come on up!

 

I had gone every year from 04 thru 08 but missed last year and will miss again this year. In 08 our friends rented an RV and were parked right at turn 16 was great to have a place to relax...also Martin/Gaby had a golf kart so getting around was SO much easier...even with 7 of us piled on the golf kart we made way better time than walking...

I've heard the event is pretty wild and while I'm always down to party and have a good time, sleeping with the locals in a tent or the bed of a pick-up truck isn't my idea of an ideal sleeping situation.

I just tried another site and received the following message: "The selected hotel is not available for the dates requested and there are no alternate hotels within 20 miles. Please change your arrival and departure dates or search for hotels in another area." I guess I should've booked in advance. Maybe next year...

I have to agree that it isn't all that comfortable but it sure as hell is a blast. You could always just pull an iron man and catch up on sleep when it's over and you get home. Red Bull is your friend! (plus a little vodka).

 

I got a room in Winter Garden, which is about an hour from the track.

 

I will be there on Saturday!!!

 

I am hugely bummed that I can't go. The GT class is going to be so much fun this year.

did this last year and doing this year. parking, full access to ground floor hotel (bar, restaurant, real bathrooms, a/c, the pool), viewing area behind pool on hill overlooking hairpin wed-sat and a bbq lunch on sat. $35 total. just call hotel and ask for it.

 

That sounds great! I'll probably try to do the same next year. Perhaps I should book it now...

 

If you really want to go, call the hotels directly. You know, the old fashioned way. the websites might not have up to date info.
