Don't get the nav - you will sell the car before you learn how to use it - love Ferrari's but but the nav and the radios are world class pain in the a**

I saw the car last night.

I would say that the aluminum interior is REALLY, REALLY nice. It does not look like plastic at all, and certainly feels like high quality die cast metal to the touch. I don't think I would spend the money on the CF interior aside from the steering wheel with LED's. That would save about 12 grand right there by not ordering the complete CF interior package.

The one option I would seriously consider is painting the side sill a black color instead of body color. I does make the car look thinner and more interesting.

The basic seats are also very nice and very comfortable. They seem deeper than the F430 but actually easier to get out of. They look a lot thinner. So, aside from adding power to them, I'm not sure the Daytona's play off as well in this design.

All the cars I saw were monotone interior colors and all looked great. I haven't been able to create a dual tone interior on the configurator yet that I like.

The 20" wheels look the best and in fact, the silver calipers looked great because they are almost completely exposed.

Remember that the F1 gearbox and CCB's are now standard so the list price already has these rather expensive options built in.

So, from an aesthetic point of view, the only "must" is the black sill which is not expensive and the 20 inch wheels (which are a matter of taste).

So for aesthetics, I would add

    20 inch wheels
    Black side sills
    color stitching
    CF drivers zone with LED
    Shields
    Painted calipers

    For functional I would add

    Power basic seats
    Front lift with headlight turning
    Nav
Rear parking sensors (and perhaps camera)
    Ipod

If it just had that, I think 95% of the people (including myself) would be happy.

You did a great job on speccing a car. My dealer and I went through the options and put together a car that would be easy for resale. It's real close to your list.

This is for a sports car?

Nav? Home link? Hi Fi? CF interior bits?

    Times sure have changed.

Just keep in mind that when it comes time to sell (and there is always a time to sell), you will get zippo for the above. Nada. Nuthin.

    Dale

PS I once brought a brand new 2004 Stradale. The only option was the stripe, which is just a piece of tape. I paid $205K. Drove it 2,500 miles and sold it for $205K. That was then, this is now. I don't think you're going to see the same thing with this car.

If I'm paying a quarter million bucks for a car, I want it the way I WANT, not what may be "zero added value" at resale.

If I want Nav and 20 inch wheels and LED's in the steering wheel, that's my call --and I won't apologise for it.

So, my comment to "Nada, Nuthin" is... I don't give a hoot.

Who cares? When you're paying this much for a car make sure it's for the car you want not the car someone else wants.

EDIT: ^ Great minds think alike!

I chose a configuration not far from what you recommend.
    Only differences are:
    - the seats (surprisingly, I fit much better in racing seats)
    - the LED carbon wheel: I hesitated a lot, but chose not to take it. Reason is that it looks weird if you don't replace all the aluminum on the dashboard.... and since the aluminum is quite nice to my eye, (even more than a full CF solution), didn't found it was worth the money
    - my 20" wheels are in a special dark grey color (veriniciatura grigio 356/C3)

    My configuration is close too.
    Standard seats
    Standard 20" wheels
I passed on the LED carbon wheel for the same you reasons you gave.

Jeff - Thank you for the price information on the sport wheels and all the other interesting bits!

One observation on the press cars with the standard seats; after a few (thousand?) miles of real use the leather on the base of the seat started to wrinkle badly. I don't think you would see that problem with the different design of the 'daytona' option seats.

I guess I wasn't thinking. I did get the Daytona seats. For $709 the seats were a bargain.

IMHO - The LED steering is the single most important option.
It keeps one's Focus outside the windshield.
Plus I like the look of mixing up aluminum and carbon

4 months ago I estimated base price will be $225-230K(base on the % increase on 2005 F430 vs 2004 F360) but no one ever believe me. Now I am right!!

That's cool. Just be sure you understand this going in. After all, I paid $5k for a piece of ****ing tape when I brought the Stradale. Turns out, I could have (and later did) buy the same tape for about $300.

However, a Stradale in Rosso Scuderia with the stripe looked so cool...

NAV is different with the 458, not the same unfriendly system as in 430/599.

True. It's such a must have that they take advantage and load it up with Carbon and a 4k price tag.

AHhhhhh, But if you look at MY guesstimate (months before yours) you will see I guessed the price at 230, So I was right and I am suing you for copyright/stealing of intellectual property or whatever... I think 230k would be a fair settlement...
