Dear All, Is it possible to add daytime LED running lights to the existing headlamp unit ? The headlamp unit comprises a 'low beam' cluster which would look fantastic if it could be replaced with an LED cluster.....importantly would keep car looking original !! Any advise most welcome .......
+1 Been wondering about this myself. Would love to have the same look at the new Audi and Porsches have when coming at me down the road.
I agree too, it's a very good idea and it's not difficult to find a good LED line. What is more challenging is to get it installed inside the headlights. From the wsm, the following need to be removed : Remove the front wheels Remove the lower parts and outer edges of the wheelhouses Detach the front section of the underfloor Remove the front bumper Remove the front wiring connections from the light bulb holders Undo the headlight fastening screws (3) Remove the entire headlight, extracting it from the lower part of the mudguard. Replace headight gasket before reassembly Just for a LED custer, that seems to be quite a lot of work unless you get it done by your shop. But the result can be very original.
It does seem alot of work... but I am still not put off and determined to get this done one day. Just wondering has anyone ever taken apart the front light unit on a 430 ? If so is it possible to take out the existing 'low beam strip' running along the edge of the unit so that it can be replaced with a quality LED strip ? Cheers
the little bulb that lights up the plastic strip went out on my 430, 280ish usd to replace bulb at dealership due to the labor of getting to the light assembly. The housing for the lights are obviously sealed to help reduce moisture and such. Just be really careful when u open it up!! gluck!
Not sure the headlight can be taken apart. Have a look to this picture. Maybe the glass can be removed. But still, I doubt if it's worth doing this as other wrote too Wouldn't it be easier to replace only the position light bulb (H6W) with some kind of led projector keeping the existing strip? Replacing the globe with a superbright LED seems an easy solution until you discover that the bayonet mount locking pins are offset. Ive searched and searched and can't find any. Any ideas ?
280 to replace the bulb that lights up the strip along the outside of the light cluster. Wow. Same thing happened to mine it took 15 minutes to do it my garage
I have seen a 360 with Audi S6 LED's installed in the front grill. Look very cool at night. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Only takes an entrepreneur to do it and he would have the world at his feet. Put me down for a set definately. Perfect way to create more mystique and top off the already fantastic looks of the 430. Rob.
For some reason, when I look at that 360, I see eyes, teeth, and a smile. Sorry, it's early and I might still be half asleep.
Lets hope this thread doesn't die ! If only one could illuminate the existing reflective curved strip it would look so cool
This would block the tow hook access when needed, right? I think mounting at the bottom of the grill (if at all) instead of the top might be better.
