I have a 1983 308 GTS and I have been thinking of selling it. I have had it almost 5 years and I am ready for something different. What should I ask for it? The car is in good not great shape and all service is up to date with the major being completed at 30,000 miles and the car now has 34,000 miles.

I'm going to make this up. For an asking price use $30K less $1K for each year you are past the last service. Ignore the miles since the service.

    Hi Matt,

I have seen your car and in fact I parked next to it at the first year of the Chuchhill Downs Concours event. I would say it is better than good!

    Cheers,
    Alan

Since nobody is throwing out a number, I'd say ask 32, sell for 28500

That seems fair, but settle for 29.5k.

That car is worth 35 minimum. Worth every penny. If you find the right buyer they won't want to lose it over 2 or 3k.

If you want to sell it quickly --- $30K
If you can hang out on it --- $34K

As for the red carpet, many will be turned off... but, the one who likes it is really going to like it, and will jump all over that car ---- a feature like that tends to be a strong discriminator...

I would not let the red carpet get in my way - just to clarify what I said in my earlier post. It just wouldnt be my first choice.

Maybe, but there's a nice '85 Euro QV for sale on this board for $32.5K, and I know of an '84 Euro that was under $30K.

Really tough to say in this market - not everyone has $30K disposable to purchase a weekend car.

Those prices are also a reflection of winter pricing. Now that it is warming up, the car market will usually pick up. Matt's car is very nice, although it did once pee coolant all over my nice driveway due to an under tightened hose clamp. Also, I think a US car will always fetch more in the US than a Euro. Outside of F-chat, most buyers are probably scared of a federalized car. It seems that most QV's are pricing in the $30's so a nice, red, good mileage car priced in the mid $30's will gather some attention.
Matt, have Adam shoot some nice photos and put it on EBAY to advertise. Be very descriptive about everything both good and bad.

That interior was designed around the red carpets, IMO, it looks really nice.

Ask 1 million dollars or best offer. This gives you plenty of room to negotiate and the guy who offers $34K will feel like they are getting the deal of the century. I would not want to sell any car in this market unless you have to. If you are looking at another car then the money you might get in the future will probably balance out with what you save on the next car now so it will be a wash.

I absolutely LOVE that interior! Is that crema leather?

My Mondial has similar color leather, but with brown carpets. I have been wanting to replace them with the red carpet for some time now, as I have always loved that combo in these cars. Now seeing your car with the red piping on the seats, It really completes the look! Was that a factory option or did you have it done? Any way you could post some more interior pictures for us?

I know a couple of guys that have been off-and-on looking for 308's, I will send them a link to this thread for you.

your cars looks cool. i think your car with good colors, recent (?) service, records (?) and no major issues should be low-mid 30's car (sell, not ask). hopefully, the market agrees with me. :)

i think you should be insulted by what others on here are quoting your car.

If you have all the books and paper work in order and it runs great and serviced pretty up to date, you should list at 49,000...whats the worst that could happen, nobody calls ? Big deal...

...if you really need to sell, then go with the flow and sell it ,but before you let it go for low dollars....do as many donuts as possible :D

You are right. Here in Australia you have to pay A$70,000 (US$64,000) for a car like this.

If the steering wheel was on the other side we would have a field day.

This gives you an idea of the prices we have to pay.
