Hello, I have been reading this forum for some time but not introduced myself. My name is John and I live in Adelaide, South Australia. Being in my mid-fifties, my Ferrari interest is mainly focussed on the cars from the Fioravanti years such as the Daytona, Dino, 308GTB and Boxer. I am almost a Ferrari virgin. I did drive a 308GT4 for about 1 kilometre 30 years ago so I suppose that counts. Like most of us I suppose, I have regrets about missed opportunities to buy cars but one day my long postponed purchase of a Dino 246GT may happen. Anyway I hope that I can contribute something of value to this site. Regards, John.
Welcome John. Glad to see the interest in the 246GT, The Most Beautiful Car in the World. A man with great taste, for sure.
Thanks for the welcome. The Dino and Boxer are two of the most beautiful cars from that period. I have to put in that qualification because these cars that were around when I was in my teens and early twenties and that is the age at which these things have the most impact. Of these cars, I prefer the Dino GT and the 365 Boxer to the Dino GTS and 512 Boxer. The roof shape of the Dino GT is sublime and the purity of the 365 Boxer was (I think) somewhat lost when the 512 was released. My favorite colour for the Dino is Verde Pino, the colour of the first one I saw. I have not seen one this colour since 1974.
