Audi, thanks for the effort. You can only post 800pixels max over here. Perhaps scan & host it with photobucket then attach a link. Think I bought this copy few weeks ago @ the airport. Ok, E type V12. That's it but manual please! I love the XJS since young but missed a few units & haven't been looking since besides, they're all automatics here (some mag name it a "Pumbler's nightmare", open the bonnet of a V12 & you'll know why ). Would love to have an XK8 but almost all exported in Sg & they are really cheap in UK now. I can still pick up an XK8 in KL for under RM200K & the XJS probably well under RM100K.
i just sit on them as late as possible ... it's akin to throwing the ruddy anchor out ..... eyeball popping ... but damn u GOTTA hv a ton of confidence in them ... or ur likely to give yourself a coronary ...
i haven't seen one yet ... was merely advised that i shld consider it ... i guess it will be with pdk ... the turbo i test drove had pdk with paddle shift ....
let me put it this way ... if they paid me, i'd take the money ... hopefully a LOT ... then i'd think abt it for a while ... a LONG while ... then migrate to brazil ........
me too buddy ... it was my dream car ... until they shot themselves in the foot & nuked the build quality in the late 70's ... that's when the car really became a nightmare ...
Damn, I'm scared of trying it out. Will most probably make my tip feel like a dinosaur Anyway, @ almost 1/4 million of savings & immediate delivery, I think I'm contented. Hahaha, was it with British Leyland then? Somehow, regular Jaguar values plunge badly once it's over 10yrs old. I can't remember anything worthwhile except that one or two model.
really .. that's coz you were sitting on them for so long at the end of each straight in the right foot yeh I can attest to that yeh the Turbo S comes with all the bells & whistles that I'd order on the Turbo, plus the extra HP .. it's just a shame that the price is close to 458 territory
Since, we're on the subject of cars. Can everyone please share what's your "childhood" dream or fascinated car? For me. Merc = SEC those 80s S-class coupes or 90s R129 SLs BMW = Don't quite have a vivid memory of em but I guess the old 6 series with the sharknose & of course the 8 series Ferrari = F308 & Testarossa. Oh yes, the big mama ass & those "cheesegrate" side air strakes! Lamborghini = Countach, white & that BIG wing! Porsche = 964 coupe or a Turbo & again with that BIG wing back there! Jaguar = XJS then XK8. Long sleek nose. Bentley= Arnage, those super big boxy saloons. Like a moving apartment! Citroen = OK, not exactly on anyone's radar but I remembered the strange looking car which was quite unique. The CX with covered rear wheels & that nose. SUVs = Rover Defender & even the Merc G Class. Utility & boxy. Classic = The definitive orig. beetle that just won't die
Lamborghini = Countach, white & that BIG wing! Oh & the cannonball run chicks! Quick someone pass me the tissues!
this list looks very familiar! had a black 500sec from lung i believe, a 308 and some testas (with n without cheesegraters) , a blue xjs (love those flying buttresses ala batman) n one of my first cars in uni was a beetle with 1600cc engine-when a porsche was unreachable
For me it has to be the Ferrari: F355 Berlinetta Lamborghini: Diablo Japanese: Nissan Skyline, Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7 That's about it really. Wasn't such a car nut when I was young. But the 355 just stood out for me. More than the Lambo actually. And I didn't really like the Countach until about last year. How about a list of classic cars too, such as during or before your time?
yes e type v12 manual please, not sure i want to splurge on a drophead, old cabrio roof also harder to maintain
i am surprised that you still have not changed them. granted i used to "jack-rabbit" a lot (particularly in the c63), but mine were almost completely bald after about 6k km! this car is quite hard on the consumables. on a related note, regardless of mileage, you should aim to change the tyres every two years (or thereabouts) because of our weather. particularly if the tyres were already "old" tyres (ie. manufactured more than 6 months prior) when you put them on.
wah your classic cars were my current cars. 1992 vs 1962 sigh... altho i am unashamedly ferraristi n never had a countach, i always preferred the testa over it. but having briefly owned the diablo, id put the diablo over the testa for sheer wow factor -the doors esp.355 does not hv that much overall impact imo its a great looking car (so long as u do not pop up the headlights) with very tight lines, n infinitely more daily driveable than diablo- really set the tone for ferraris that followed
I'll be honest with you, I'd rather have your "current" cars than my classics. The cars from the 60s were just drop-dead. The Miura, Lancia Fulvia, Daytona..
well, if u drive it, THEN u shld be scared ... cos it IS a really nice car ... ur probably right ... i think it was ...
