Hi guys, I noticed there is a battery switch in the 360 front luggage compartment that allows you to switch battery master switch to on and off for removing battery and storage. When I tried to turn the knob either clockwise and counterclockwise, it only turns like 2mm, which is not much rotation. I am puzzled, is this normal? Is this how far it turns to on and off position? Is the switch locked or something that I need to unlock it? Thanks for your help.
I have never messed with mine but I assume that everything will go dead if you turn it to off and the switch is working properly?
Thanks guys for your reply. I may have a dead battery, which I need to replace it, but the manual says to turn the switch to off position before I proceed. You guys mentioned it turns 45-90 degrees. It seems the battery switch on my car does not turn much (only 2 degrees) like it is stuck or something. It really hurts my fingers when I try to force it both ways (clockwise and counterclockwise), but it still won't turn. I was going to use a plier, but I don't want to damage the plastic knob.
My 01 360 had the original (or someone actually bought a replacement F battery) which died shortly after I got it. When I went to change it, the first time I tried to turn mine off the switch exhibited a lot of resistance. I had to give it steady pressure and grip for a good while to finally get it to move. I used a small rubber strip to keep the grip on it. Once I got it to move, it has worked fairly easily.
Same here -- it actually takes some effort to turn it the first time -- subsequent turns are easy. The only thing you lose when turning off is the clock. The On/Off directions are indicated by the arrows on the knob.
Don't worry, I won't use the plier at all. Okay I will give it another try at turning the switch with a better rubber grip than my bare fingers as you suggested. It is very strange that it is not easy to turn the knob the first time I tried it. Thanks for your suggestions.
when you turn the switch off. the radio will not work unless you put in the correct radio code. your manual will have a radio code on a seperate piece of paper. if not some dealers copy the code down when the recieve the car. there are several sites that can find the code for you, but you have to remove the radio and get the serial # off the side
